🖥 My Hands-On, Practical Course on how to get into IT in ~3 months! 🖥

Took me 15 months, while working full time, raising two kids, with zero college credits to get my BS in Business Management through WGU. Already earned two promotions in my industry that likely would not have happened without the degree. 100% worth it.

Coming from an executive recruiter hiring CFOs, CEOs, and c-level executives entirely. We. Do. Not. Care. Where. Your. Degree. Is. From.

WGU graduates have been a great asset to our organization. It shows efficiency, work ethic, and discipline.

Josh, I just finished my Bachelor’s in Business Administration IT Management at WGU 1 month ago. You inspired me to do so! I worked full time and finished 33 classes in 4 months. Never thought I’d be a college graduate after dropping out during the housing market crash. Thank you for continuing to encourage people.

NO ONE LOOKS AT TRANSCRIPTS EXCEPT OTHER SCHOOLS says an actual recruiter.

Funny how I graduated from University of Phoenix last month with my BS in Information Technology/Cybersecurity. I have literally learned more from your YT channel than I did in my whole program.

I've hired IT security staff in the past. In my opinion as the candidate gets closer to being hired, HR and the hiring manager should be vetting the information on the resume (like verifying IT certifications are current and the degrees are real), but yeah no one cares how long it took to get them. Most of the time people don't even care what the degree was in. It's usually either you have it or you don't. Honestly I think the commenter is just mad that someone was able to do it faster than he was. 🤷‍♂

Thanks for this I’m starting WGU next Jan 2023 with BS in IT . I just wasted 2 years at a traditional college for my BS in applied sciences and can’t get a job, so I’m going into IT.

I started WGU two years ago and I am down to a few classes left. I landed a federal job in IT. I am pretty sure the certs got me the job. WGU changed my life. I'd only be halfway done with school with no certs and no IT job if I went to a traditional college.

Great points that you make Josh. I tried assisting Penn State World Campus and it was a big waste of time without learning any actual IT skills. After I switched to WGU, I was able to save money, get IT certs, and finish my degrees a ton faster.

Nonsense, I’m an IT manager with 20+ years and I would never look at where it’s from and how long. Neither would HR. I guarantee it

Exactly!! I went to community college then went to the University both part time. It took me about 10 years to accomplish it but guess what.... ZERO Student debt

The more people realize that traditional methods of obtaining a degree aren’t worth the investment and are better off obtaining it at sources such as WGU, the more traditional colleges will be at risk of losing business. I’m already predicting that this will prevail in the near future.

I just started at WGU and I gotta say that I am impressed with the level of support and resources the offer. Access to Pluralsight, Udemy, LinkedIn Learning, and more. Also, the fact that I get over 14 certifications over the duration of the program blew my mind. The person who made that comment has no idea what they're talking about, and I can say that looking at the trends WGU will become more relevant and well known.

May the commenter find peace and let go of the petty and spite.
That bitterness is absolutely unhealthy, and destructive.

Been doing an accelerated degree while working full-time, two years of working myself ragged in both work and school. Him choosing to take the long traditional route is on him, there's quite a few opportunities to accelerate your schooling process.

For what it's worth, my degree is in philosophy. My friend's degree is in drama. And we both work in the industry (and at the same place too!). It took a little bit more work than if we had gotten computer science or IT degrees from the start, but oh well. We're both doing alright for ourselves.

It's all about taking stock of what already works in your favor, figuring out the best way to fill the gaps, and going from there.

I just recently went over this exact topic with my younger brother whose in school for IT. He's going to a state school, and even with scholarships it's costing him 10k a year. I basically explained to him that at the end of the day all that matters about a degree is that you have it. Like unless your going to an Ivy league school, nobody in IT is gunna care where you got your degree.

I've been an IT help desk worker for 5 years regrettably and I 💯 agree. I've been told so many times that managers want hard working, reliable people who communicate more than the actual degree. Only HR really looks at the degree to filter you into a group of candidates and then you have to show your worth in the interview.
At least this has been my experience so far.
Great video sharing the real world truth on the matter!!
