Smart City Kids hosted "Thinking Outside the Ivy Box" a FREE and ONLINE workshop about non-Ivy League but still excellent opportunities for prospective college students on Wednesday, August 25th, 2021. The event was hosted by Jill Ortman, College Advisor at Smart City Kids, a leading education consulting firm in New York City.

Description: There are more than 5000 colleges and universities in the United States, but only eight schools are members of the Ivy League. Too many students and parents are unable to look past these schools to see the many other highly competitive, academically excellent, and sometimes more accessible colleges when building their college list. In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to schools that offer everything but the brand name and may be a better overall fit for your child.

Jill Ortman joined SCK after working as Director of College Counseling at Dwight School in New York for ten years, as well as head of the college counseling program at the High School Attached to Capital Normal University-Dwight school in Beijing. She has extensive experience in college admissions in the United States as well as internationally.
