If your father would have treasured you as his son you would not be focused on that chart.Look at how your family treasure your return home that's the real treasure.

Entirely possible, entirely believable, there's no way you're telling us everything and that's fine too, enjoy your time by the way those are nice "speakeasy gear" you're diving with.
As far as fathers go well you're sometimes better off sailing on your own, works out better many times :)
