I'm glad that he lived to see he wasn't the worst president in US history. He was a decent human being. RIP Jimmy.

He wasn't a great president (he bit off more than he could chew), but he was a tremendous person. Rest in peace, Mr. Carter. Rosalyn is waiting for you in heaven. Sending thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, and everyone he helped.

What a shame. He was almost old enough to run for Congress

At least he lived long enough to witness a worse president than he was.

How quickly we forget. He was an absolute nightmare personally and professionally

Was it mentioned about the long lines waiting for gas during his term?

Just to get to the pumps and no gas.
Or the failed rescued attempt of the hostages ?
Or the long speeches that was empty of any thoughts?
I have always remembered, so sad.

Those of us 60 or older remember just how bad he was as a President.

My U.S. Government/History professor has said that although Jimmy Carter might have been a “bad” professor, he was a good person.

R.I.P Jimy Carter. He had possibly the best post presidency. I understand there was plenty to criticize during his administration, but you will find nothing but good works over the rest of his career. His Carter Center was influential in achieving the near eradication of Guina Worm Disease.

I came here to read the comments and by the looks of it there are two groups:
1) the ones who are 60+ (AKA 40 at the time) remember how bad is administration was.
2) the ones who were teenagers at the time and believed that his administration wasn’t that bad.

Mr. Carter was a very intelligent man, graduating high in his class at Annapolis. In addition, I truly believe that his heart was full of goodness; however, as President - No. I have no problem with people remembering him with grace and dignity, but his administration was terrible.

So many people here in the comments are so quick to hate. I’m disappointed.

The world is saddened by the loss of this great man.Even at his age, he never retired. He volunteered until he couldn't. He truly deserved to be President. He gave his all in everything he did. He will be missed by so many.

One if not the only true humanitarian that sat in the White House as President in my life time anyway. Good soul he and his wife. He truly cared about people.

I remember him for gas lines, 18% home interest rates, and the rabbit that attacked him.
