Youtube has a big problem

A lot of people have been linking a video from Linus Tech Tips that talked about the same issue. I still think it’s something youtube themselves should be on top of and not up to the creators to manually do over and over. They have the ability to do it, they just wont.

The fact that YouTube is so strict when it comes to swearing and certain content that may seem harmless to us can get demonetized, yet they let these bots and comments continue to be a problem.

It really sucks for genuine fans who have to be hesitant to comment on their favourite creator’s videos only to have bots comment these nsfw accounts, scams, or hate bots reply and just ruin the whole experience of just supporting people.

The porn bots stealing other people's comments to this degree and getting away with it when major content creators have to tiptoe around arcane content restrictions is WILD. I'd be so aggravated if I was trying to meaningfully interact with my legitimate audience through this shit blizzard.

We have different types of spam comments on our channel (as well as many of the same inappropriate ones you have pointed out). Some people bot song requests and likes (evident by the time posted and the consistent number of likes on requests that are patently obscure/unpopular). It's annoying because we used to be able to gauge what people wanted to hear from the comments, but we no longer can because of the spam. We even tried making some of the requests to see if there really was that much interest in some of these tracks... ...there was not. All the best man.

It is so nice to see someone finally speaking about this, it's such a disappointment to try to interact and engage with the community and every single time you just have to sort through so many bots/spam troll accounts. While I do hope they fix this soon somehow, I think you could add moderators to the channel, I have no idea if you already did that, but having some people taking care of the comments or at least taking a look at them after a couple hours the video was uploaded could really help!

YouTube has a massive bot problem, not just in comment sections but livestreams too, I have no idea how they managed to get so rampant without YouTube doing something about it. Really messes with the website

Yeah this is a fair video to make. I feel very bad for all the huge creators that have to deal with all these annoying comments, and just wanna interact with the community -- and just get spam and bots.
I hope Youtube does do something to fix this eventually.

Couldn’t agree more. YouTube has an unacceptable double standard, even when it comes to ads, the amount of scantily clad ads etc on the same supposedly ‘kid friendly’ site.

Finally someone's talking about this in a video. I have been noticing this and other similar bot-related issues on this platform for a really long time and try to report as many as possible but I know it hardly makes any difference. Until YouTube decides to install better moderation features to remove the obvious bots, there isn't much we can do other than report as many as possible.

As for those who comment with the sole purpose to divert viewers to their channels, they genuinely annoy me a lot because it's pretty clear that they bought subscribers when you check their upload history and the type of "content" that they upload. I love checking out smaller creators from time to time to support those who put hours into videos for little to no viewer retention and these people come along with their fat stacks, buy subscribers and then climb comment sections with the same comment posted over and over again. Most of the time they don't even bother watching the video.

It's good that most people on YouTube however realize this and try to avoid such channels. As long the majority stays sane, YouTube will be alright.

I remember being able to comment and i would get real, authentic people replying to me in under an hour having an actual conversation/debate, but you’re 100% right how we don’t even want to comment anymore because we think we won’t even be seen, or we’ll be buried behind bots. Thank you jack
