Dungeons 2 - Review Commentary

Our reviewer Rowan Kaiser runs down what Dungeons 2 does well, and what it gets disastrously wrong.

Being a huge Dungeon Keeper fan myself, I have to say that I absolutely love this game so far. As for the level demonstrated here in the video, I remember the part regarding the arena and the frustration of trying to figure it out. But something you have to remember. In Dungeon Keeper, the only help you got was the little drop down messages. The Narrator isn't there to tell you how to do everything, He's there to sort of guide you, yes, but he is a Narrator. There's another level where you have to survive up to a point to get a good foothold and it's very challenging. I spent many hours of suffering defeat before I finally made it. I cussed. A lot! But loved it! It reminded me of a couple of levels on Dungeon Keeper where if you dug out one little block before you were truly ready, it was certain death. I played that level so many times, and finally made it. It's challenging, that's one of the biggest draws to the game I see. So, to sum it up, I disagree with your review. to each his/her own, I guess.

A beautifully convoluted review with gems like: "Things like you're supposed to click on the rooms to do the things within the rooms, it doesn't like go really into what things exactly are supposed to be done in that way."

I think the developer deserves more than some oohing and aahing about vague issues without really defining or explaining any actual faults. The only exact issue I heard Rowan pick out was a bug regarding the double clicking of units for unit selection, which wasn't a bug and actually worked fine as he discovered himself on my time as a viewer.

Definitely expect more from a name like IGN, this was an utter waste of my time and is just disrespectful. If you're going to slag off something which took people perhaps years to create, at the very least take the time to structure a proper review with actual arguments.

The guy playing the game/reviewer must have ADHD because he gets distracted *while he's talking* about something and says some random crap thats on his mind then loses track of where he was.

It's a commentary video, we don't need to see you get sidetracked every few minutes like a 5th grader to frantically play the game.

In addition to the review, mainly about the controls and how to use the rooms, the reviewer claims to be a Dungeon Keeper veteran and if he really is, he and in extention you shouldn't have a problem understanding and performing that, it's properly explained and you can handle it well if you have ever played a game like that...or even not. It feels like they exploring the game in real time here, got thrown in somewhere in the middle of it and tell us what they explore about at the moment, it's really not that complicated.

This is just an awful review. Rowan - I assume he's the one who's playing - really shouldn't play & talk at the same time, it seems like you're continuously getting lost between focussing on the game and doing the review. Have someone else play the game so you can focus on the reviewing bit. That is, if you finally muster up the words to describe why it does something "fairly well. You keep giving out a judgement on things but the clarification on why takes forever. I agree with aforementioned comments: really, really poor review, guys.

I applaud someone trying to do a sequel to dungeon keeper.. but ... I could tell it wasn't going measure up when I saw that there was no large succubus on the free poster that came in the box.  Not quite the same level of humor.   The second thing that bugged me, it didn't allow me to specify a hard drive to install on!  This is a deal breaker.  There is no excuse for this in the current age of computing.  I have a SSD, system only, C: drive... and this is where it want to install itself.   I have 2 other very large data drives that were begging for the install.   It pissed me off so badly that I wanted to kick devs in the knees.  As it is I will be extracting the game from my computer with haste.    Much anger!

These guys dont even know what they are doing in first place, throwing the archers on the frontline like without any concept of formation, picking up ALL the units to attack instead of letting them make resources, trying to make the game look bad even though its an amazing game
"no way to kill the unicorn, you need to figure out how to kill her"
i've played this level and the narrator TELLS you how to kill it right in the begginning, the mission itself is telling you to see the hermit instead of killing the unicorn
