The Gold Experience was the first full-length Prince album to be credited to his unpronounceable symbol, and was released at the most public, heated stage of his battle with the major label industrial complex. With the word “SLAVE” written on one cheek, Prince shined on the opulent ballads “The Most Beautiful Girl in the World” and “Gold” and the defiant single “Eye Hate U,” and the album earned widespread critical acclaim.

The Record Store Day 2022 re-release of The Gold Experience is an homage to the rare US-only promo version of the album released in 1995. The two-LP set is pressed onto translucent gold vinyl with a bonus suite of “Eye Hate U” remixes on Side D.

Thanks for this one. I always have to work on RSD and I really wanted this. Was looking around but only found scalpers. I knew there were a lot of them but every store holds out to go online with them so I was worried I wouldn't get one. I didn't buy second hand anymore. I did for Live at Wembley and LA woman sessions, but only because it was a reasonable mark up.

I read there was a legal problem and "The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" Which was On the 95 release what removed on the 2022 version makes me a really big Prince fan think twice about wanting the record store day version.

Maybe I missed something, but why doesn't it come with the original artwork? It's great to have the music, but t can't be said to be the complete package without it IJS.

I like some Prince, but over all he is severely overrated. "PrInCe CaN pLaY 16 iNsTrUmEnTs". Yeah, but the best songs he wrote were in the 80s, the rest were duds.

Desirable, if you hate music! Prince is like Mozart, talented, but no emotional depth. Avoid!
