Even though i'm a Firefox user, but nice!

I have a weird issue with one of my old pc's with windows 7 .I plug external drive or a flash drive, they show up in partition but i can't set a path or a letter .When i attempt to set a letter i get error : Disk Management Console View Is not up-to-date .I tried everything from diskpart to backup software to partition programs but nothing works .Tried different usb ports, updating all drivers and so on .Googled what i could .The only thing it can recognize is a 2gb usb flash drive, all the remaining 3 usb flash drives 2 are 32gb and 1 is 64gb + the external hdd can't be recognized .All 4 flash drives are fat32, the external hdd is exfat .I hav an old laptop with dying hdd and i backup my files and the os is 32 bit but it managed to recognize all the devices .The old pc only can recognize the 2gb flash drive .I haven't tested the 2 memory cards i have .Is there anything i can do ? Extract os usb drivers from the laptop or get a windows update from a secure site relating to the usb drivers and bugs ? I also have legacy usb activated trough the bios .
