Celestion Century Vintage neo speaker - Forgotten Masterpiece?

Показать описание
The Celestion Century Vintage was one of Celestion's first neo (neodymium) speakers which came in to being in the early 2000s. Although it was fantastic for saving some weight it wasn't massively popular and seemed to dissapear within ten years or so of being released... soon being replaced by the Celestion neo creamback.

These days it is having a little bit of a revival, even if only in small circles, it is started to be given more credit than it was back in the day... Even I have to admit, I appreciate it a lot more now that

The speakers are Celestion Alnico Blue, Vintage 30, Century Vintage, G12-65 (Heritage not classic series), Alnico Cream, V type, H heritage 55Hz, Classic Lead 80, Alnico Gold, H heritage 75Hz, H creamback 75, G12H Redback, M creamback 65, H anniversary, M heritage, G12T-75, Neo Creamback, Alnico Ruby, Mystery Speaker, A Type, WGS Invader 50

If you have any experience of the A type then please let us know... if there is anything you want to hear or other comparisons then please let us know.

If my ears aren’t lying to me I would say it sounds pretty much like the g12h anniversary. Great video as always. Thanks.

I purchased my G12 Century Vintage (8 Ohm-50W) accidentaly, just because good price and curiosity. After that I tried a lot of different speakers, some was very good, some just nice, some I didn't liked at all. But after all of them I was continue return to Century Vintage. Still favorite 12 inch speaker.

Great work. I was contemplating putting one of these that I have had for a decade into a new amp. I have your video has helped me to make my decision. Thank you.

It's sounds very similar to G12H Anniversary. Just a tiny amount less highs.

It has a massive sound across the whole spectrum, not only in the high register, plus a nice smooth midrange honk.
How can somebody not like it?
It just comes in handy for basic classic guitar sounds.
I am surprised it got so much hate back then, not so surprised as I recall the era (out of fashion, for sure it was).

Sounds like a fabulous speaker. I think maybe the V-Type Neo they currently make would be a lot more similar than the Neo Creamback, but I love the frequency response of the Century Vintage in this video. I just ordered a barely used one for my Marshall Haze 15 cab, to replace the G12H30 Heritage 75Hz speaker currently in it. The G12H had too much boomy low end for such a small closed back cab. The Century Vintage should help with the weight of the cab, and of course, hopefully tame down the boomy lows. I love the midrange sound, and the highs, in this video. Thanks for the excellent comparison! 🎶🔥🤘🔥🎶

Love your guys videos great work! You hook us up with a lot of info about a lot of speakers. One question though is the guy in the video a man or a lion?

I love the back on this speaker! I've listened to a lot of your speaker comparisons (they are great and very helpful, so thank you for them!), and the Century Vintage is definitely one of my favorites based on your tests. I wish it hadn't been discontinued. I don't see any listed on Reverb or eBay right now so it seems they have become hard to find.

Sounds similar to a G12H Van halen that I have, it also sounds very close to the G12H30 Anniversary. Great sounding speaker, that said I question its versatility and the abiity to tame highs. I really liked how the Alnico blue sounded here and the G12H 55hz

The. E turn Vintage was the second Neo type speaker. The first was the G12 Century, supposedly based on a Classic Lead 80. It was loud (102 dB sensitivity) and not too bad. Had it in a Line 6 Flextone 3 amp for a long time and it was excellent. Not as popular as the Century Vintage that came after.
Only sold it on last year.

Sounded pretty close to the G12H Anniversary? Would be the closest current offering anyway...

justo acabo de comprar un par de G12 Century Vintage por 1, 500 pesos mexicanos, para hacer un gabinete 2x12, casi no hay reseñas sobre esta bocina, pero sin duda suena genial, espero pronto poder usarlas

Seems very well voiced, if you can tame the highs on your amp ;-)
