One his finest vocal performances. Underrated as a singer. He has a fairly deep voice, but he sings that last part in falsetto, then goes (“cause it shows”) UP a key in falsetto, and finishes at his regular pitch. Outstanding.

I remember playing this song on a Sat morning and then getting the news that my dad had died. My mom was washing clothes and I had to tell her that he passed away. He was the love of her life, although, they hadn't been together in years. And at around the 4:55 mark, she just starts sobbing with her back to me. I gently put my arms around her and said nothing. I just let her have that moment to grieve.

Wow! I always thought when Phil sang the extra lyrics at concerts, that he just forgot the words and was making them up (he's done that, we're all human). But to know there are actual bonus verses, that's awesome! I love the bass groove on this one. Also the "no worry, there's no hurry" and just the way Phil sings it with his falsetto. The falsetto at the end too. This whole album is very much a product of 1983. Peak Collins-era Genesis here.
