All the people who keep commenting "bUt MiNeS bEeN VerTiCaL wiTh No ProBLems!" have zero understanding of the actual issue.

Every PS5 that comes across my work bench has had this issue. The console almost always comes into my shop with a different issue (like a broken HDMI port) and then we discover the impending liquid metal problem. Just because you don't have any problems now doesn't mean it won't be a problem in the future. I can pretty much guarantee that everyone who says they aren't having problems have a PS5 with dry spots and oxidation on the APU and have no clue that it's there.

I've had my PS5 standing vertically since I first got it. The only time it's ever had an issue is when I cleaned it for the first time and blew dust down into the power suply

I was dating a girl who worked for the Sony support center when I got my Ps5, and she warned me to never stand it vertically. She was actually really good about keeping her NDA and we rarely talked about that stuff but she was pretty adamant about it so I believed her.

My ps5 that i bought on release day, has been vertical since day 1 and haven't had not one issue ever.

Those grooves aren't to avoid the liquid metal from dripping down, because that was never a problem, they are there to avoid a dry spot in the middle that caused thermal issues. Don't believe me? TronicsFix actually explains it in the video.

My second release ps5 has been sitting vertically for around 3 yrs and there is absolutely no sign of leakage or the temperatures rising. It actually was hoax. The possibility exists but it also exists on pcs. Your cpu will also sit vertically there.
