Very Nice & fair review of the game. Ive been playing from 2019 & the devs did a great job at this game. Soo much gear, quests, & unlockable plus a challenge. You feel rewarded for your time & effort spent on the game.

It's has it's rough edges, but I love it. It's short little 15 minute missions with friends, with some outside mission progression (gear, skill build, etc). The characters are pretty unique (though I wish there were more than 5), and I LOVE that they have melee characters. And they are both a blast to play!

I bought this game back in 2019 myself. I said, this has a good core gameplay loop, but it needs everything else. Put it aside for a couple years came back and put about 40 hours into it. It's a good game, still feels like it needs something else tho.

I'm also a Cass main. even tho I'm typically a support/healer shes just too good. her kit is amazing.

Choosing between Anvil and The Ascent, until I saw this one. It seems that Killsquad focuses on coop rather than solo that can coop.

I’m in! I prefer more coop games because I usually get bored on solo games that is not focused on coop.

Kill squad has a lot of potential excellent review super in depth. You hit all the key points. Just pick the game up looking for some friends to play with. Kill squad and steam deck go hand to hand.

Well it is no ARPG and the developers even said that clear. It was more a moba game-approach and unfortunately it is only "bare bones" in terms of gameplay only.

There is, as you mentioned, no story at all . no connection to your world... You simply run over visually different highways from the left to the right. Skill system allows not much diversity on a single Character.
There is no loot you can find, different from the shop so at a certain point you can just reload it and get better/other gear or even level a new toon from vector 0 to maximum with "buying yourself up", as each time you rise your vector-level will rise the level of items in the shop.
There are no unique gears/weapons and due to the "restrictions" of their tileset, you will find repeating patterns extremely fast/often.


In my opinion, it is just a small side-game that can be played once in a while. Because of all the things mentioned, the community already speculating about it being "dead"..
