1- iran is the one who can block the strait of hormuz themselves.
2- those mountains provide some incredible natural wonders and attract tourists and calling them bad for just supply support is hilarious.

I don't agree with you here is why:
Iran is the only country that posses the ability to shut down the straight of hourmoz because it owns majority of the Islands. Also Iran can use the sea of Oman if the straight gets blocked. Something that other Persian gulf states can't do.

The mountains are the reason that Iran has rivers, rain, Snow and farmland without them Iran would have been a sand dessert like Saudi Arabia. Iran is located in subtropical region (which limits cloud construction) the mountains push and trap moisture which makes Iran habitable

The mountains limit Iran expansion but they help a lot in defense. They make Iran a natural fortress without then Iran would have had significant difficulty defending against Iraq.
