This is how cabling was done decades ago. The main difference was instead of zip ties it was waxed string (or if you worked in aerospace Dacron thread). It was the art of cable lacing and you had to essentially tie specific patterns so that cables held together but also could still be traced and replaced over time.

In a way he is just following the old methodologies with newer tools.

These are solid conductors which were earlier used for house wiring.
Now they are not used and what is available is mulit stranded indulated wires of different sizes in mm.
Anyone who knows about 'skin effect' in alternating current will know why multi stranded wires are used.

All is necessary. I use laser level while tracing pipes and small level gauge when mounting outlets and switches. Keep up the great work, mate!
