After watching this I think I know why I cannot get a new job... my current company gave me a title that is way higher than the experience the position has provided. I changed my title from Patient Registration Associate to Patient Scheduling Coordinator about 2 years ago (about 6 months after starting). Before I made the change it was confusing when I spoke to others about what I do, but also when talking to patients. It just adds a level of clarity and respect since the change. I'm now thinking of changing it to Patient Scheduling Specialist. Something I would really appreciate you doing would be a video asking for a raise/salary increase for where you currently work. You do a lot of new job negotiations but what if you like where you are but feel you deserve more compensation? How do you negotiate a higher pay rate? Or as you've mentioned before, how do you negotiate other perks like a better office?

I have to make a very difficulty decision between 2 job offers because of the job title. One is "Senior Consultant" with a lower compensation and in the city that I do not really like and one is "Consultant" with a higher compensation and the city that I would like to live there

Been self employed for a few years and never really thought about a job title before.
Now that I'm trying to do some work involving customer outreach I want to make sure I've got something that looks official.
I could honestly make it anything I want, but I think making it clear to other people on the outside is a big thing.

So the interesting thing about titles is in a sector like "community manager" it is seen like a normal title and the norm of this title doesnt mean like managing people but managing the community. Obviously not the case for every section of teams, but in community management, some people are called "community management coordinators" but we just call them "community managers" because that is the actual industry title people understand and know.

Won't the company flag the applicant once they investigate the applicant's work history and see that the job title they provided didn't match with what the former employer contracted(specifically job title) the employee? And what is the extent of one can change the job title? Thanks

My role on paper is a "Marketing Coordinator" though I'm the head of the department and when introduced to others by my boss I'm always introduced as the "Marketing Manager" or "Head of Marketing" though when I asked my title to be changed they said no...
What should I do? Leaning towards moving onto another company.
