In October 1999 Horizon was installed in my office, I continued to use Capture so my accounts were double checked..
By January 2000 I was requesting Horizon to be removed as there were losses each week that capture did not report.
In June the strormtroopers raided my office. After the losses had got beyond my control.

I was informed I was the only office having problems. I was suspended without pay. Then dismissed.
It has taken 24 years to get to the truth.
Thank you computer weekly

Thank God some people are willing to stand by the truth! It seems the BBC are no longer interested.

Well done, I hope you don't let up now and keep covering the scandal and hopefully those who did wrong will be held accountable

Well done computer weekly for uncovering this story.

Do get in touch if you are looking for insight into the next level. Why Horizon and other tech continue to have unresolved systemic flaws which cause the random discrepancies.
😮😊

I have followed the whole of the inquiry, and it saddens me there's a lot of lip service from pol but in reality I see no culture change at all . Please keep the pressure up computer weekly.

This really was an eye-opening conversation! Bryan gave me an unfiltered, behind-the-scenes, glimpse into how it all unraveled in those early years before it evolved into a major national—and eventually global—story.

Brilliant job by Computer Weekly but it took another 15 years and a prime time drama to bring it to mass public attention. Where was the BBC and other media organisations during this period. Shameful

When are Horizon & the Post office management going to appear in court ?

Given its cred from this matter, I hope that Computer Weekly now goes big and hard on any organization whose IT system is a debacle. The so-called mainstream media should be an easier sell next time.

Readers of Private Eye will be aware of the Horizon problems as they picked up the Computer Weekly story and did there own investigations. BBC commissioned a podcast - The Great Post Office Scandal - first broadcast in 2020. 17 episodes of I think 15 minutes each. Nick Wallace worked for over a decade to find the information for these podcasts and I’m sure ITV listened to them but commercial pride caused them to forget to acknowledge they had….

This story has gone quiet. What is government doing to clear it up?

Confirmation bias. Clear example at the end.

Attorney general cover up dated at 2002. Jack Straws constituency proximity to Co Op HQ Wife career progression 4 legal aid refusals and benefit from the loss of Jill Dando might raise eyebrows. Embarrassed counsel of 1999 never interviewed by police. Presumably same with recused chair 1999.

you talk as if the work is finished! surely the Post Office still needs to reimburse every Sub postmaster (or their inheritors) they have defrauded. not just 'compensation'!

And not one of them have been charged. Let alone prosecuted. Commit fraud and prosecute innocent people. And the authorities drag it on and on . If I don’t pay my council tax . Can I have a public enquiry before they drag me to court. Two tier non justice system.

Should be enough to drag them to court
