How To Set Up Sonos Roam

In this video we teach you how to set up the Sonos Roam portable speaker. The Sonos Roam is a battery powered portable speaker that can be connected via bluetooth or wifi. With the rechargeable battery you can get up to 10 hours of music play time on your device.

Sonos Roam Set UP:
1. Charge the Sonos roam with the provided cable.
2. Download the Sonos app and login with a username and password.
3. Turn on bluetooth and NFC on your phone. Turn on the Sonos Roam speaker and follow instructions for set up. In some cases you will need to remove your phone case from your phone in order for the NFC set up to register with the Sonos Speaker.

For the people that get a orange blinking light. It means you first will have to charge the system to be able to set it up. I had to look this up too. All sonos roams do not come in charged up.

I think the system is not the easiest to configure. It comes with the vaguest of instructions and while I managed to have it set up one day, the next day it did not recognise the Roam and I had to go through the whole process again. I still have not found a login in setting when I open the Sonos app. I love my Sonos 1 but introducing the Roam is not the easiest.

I tried to hook this up to my computer with no luck, so I called Sonos and they said I needed to hook it up to a so called smart phone first. Why the hell do I need to hook it to a phone when my MacBook Pro already has bluetooth I took the thing back to Best Buy. Stupidest thing

Been trying for 2 days and still no luck. I will never buy a Sonos product again.

Forget first use as a portable blue tooth speaker without at least 1hr pre charge or a WiFi connection in which all your other sonos products are connected to.

This video doesnt actually tell you that without the stable wifi for the initial set up, you cant physically add it to the system.

So its roam only once charged and set up to stable wifi where other sonys products or sonos system first set up.

Other Bluetooth speakers are literally plug and play.

Just another mechanism to force you to buy into the system for more add ons (eg magnetic wireless charging pad).

Other Bluetooth speakers for a fraction of the price, great sound, dont require this rigmarole 😢.

Have yet to discover the sound quality as still charging and have to wait to get to stable wifi or i will mess up the connectivity of the other sonos speakers in the house 🏠.

Wish you didn't skip creating a sonos account. Is that needed? Skipping steps and not explaining for new users isn't very helpful.
