My husband and I have been saving and our son just started lessons he has been talking about being a pilot and obsessed with planes since he was 5. I teared up watching with every hehe. My son just had his first lesson and the look on his face when I saw him. After was priceless

I remember back in 1969 to my first solo in a Cessna 150. My instructor was a big man. That plane climbed fast. I looked over at that empty seat, and I remember it looked like a football field. Here's wishing you many happy and safe years flying. I'm still at it at 76.

Great job!!!! Must have been a lot of hours of practice for you to be this comfortable on a first solo flight. It took me ages just to even get used to driving a car 🤣🤣

Exactly the same way I reacted when I did my first solo, KABE was the airport. It’s a low traffic international so mostly heavies and passenger planes came through but other than that it was always open from traffic. I did my solo right around winter time and it was a surreal feeling, got a congratulations and clapping from the 2 airliners that were there and from the ATC. I always remember it because it was the first time I could speak on the radio entirely without my instructor there, I got to say thank you and have a great day to the ATC for the first time. The ATC controller even sent the log of the flight over to my FBO which I now keep in my flight bag to remind myself why I love aviation and why I continue to fly. He wrote “congrats on your first solo !!” on it, love that airport and I can’t wait till I get in the Airlines to complete my aviation journey, working on my instrument at Embry Riddle now 😁

I remember my first solo. When you completed your first solo, the instructor would cut a piece of the back of your shirt. My first solo was back in 1997.

I remember my first solo at 16 years old, it was just the best feeling ever. I remeber landing and my mom standing there crying happy tears. At first my mom didn't want me to fly becsuse she was worried that it was too dangerous but after seeing how happy it made me she fully supported it and she was my first passenger after i got my PPL. That was 26 years ago and it still seems like it was yesterday. Now i fly 747's for a major cargo airline and i absolutely love every minute of it. This young man in the video will do great.
