I just found this video now. Wow, I love your analysis. I saw Luther play numerous times when he lived in Peoria, IL. 1971. I was part of an organization called Peoria Area Teens which helped to book bands for local concerts. We got to know Luther and his band and, a couple times were invited to the blues club on the south side to watch them play. Jimmy was on guitar. I don't have his last name on my pics, but I would guess it's Solberg. I'll never forget those days. Music was incredible. What a legend. Thanks for this great video!

Luther moved to Europe just to get paid. His studio version of cherry red wine is one of the most wailing solos ever!

Ann Arbor... man what a scene that was! Everything from Ray Charles and Count Basie big bands to One String Sam and Hound Dog Taylor! Freddie King played till his fingers bled to close a Friday night show. Love me some Luther, a frequent visitor to my city, a great player and showman!

Fantastic Fil its always a nice to end the day when you post the blues no matter who is singing or playing and for that I thank thee! 🍒 the chest voice is always the best singing the blues.

After you did a review of Magic Sam I listed some of my favorites and I forget Luther. Luther is one of my very favorites . Fil much respect to you for featuring these great and under rated blues legends .

Thanks Fil for another Blues analysis. I never saw Luther live but when I was a teenager in Los Angeles in the early 70's he had a song " Luther's Blues" from a hollywood movie "Coolie High" that was played a lot on KMET and KLOS radio all the time.

Omigosh! Look at that! 70K subscribers, so FAST! Congratulations and soar on Wings! Awesome analysis of such an interesting player as Luther Allison; he's new to me, but I really enjoyed that full band sound and his dramatic expression a lot. Thank you!

Man you on a roll covering the blues legends.Right on Fil.This cat’s son Bernard Allison is a beast too, theirs a vid from 1986 here on YouTube of Bernard and SRV trading licks, If I’m not mistaken they’re both playing on a fender Squier too, KILLIN it.Proves sometimes it’s not about the gear but about the skill. That would be a nice video to cover if you ever get a chance Fil, I think I mentioned that recommendation several months back as well.Really good vid, you can tell they were really enjoying themselves. Bernard was like 21 in the clip, just killin on the strings.Massive respect...Peace/Rock

I saw Luther at the 1970 Ann Arbor Blues Festival. Friday night was the most unbelievable night of Blues Legends any one will could imagine! On Saturday & Sunday Luther appeared on stage as second guitar on a few occasions. During his own set, Saturday afternoon, Johnny Winter did a walk-on to accompany him. During the set they started trading riffs in what appeared to be a display of one-upmanship. After about 5 minutes, Johnny stopped and raised his arms in disbelief (or surrender) - Luther took no prisoners!
