historical facts about selim II : almost all ottoman sultans had nicknames, his was "sari" meaning blond. his was known as "selim the blond". some people even nicknamed him "sarhos" meaning drunk. he was also known as "selim the drunk". he was 42 years old when he took over the throne. he was the first sultan who did not personally lead his armies into battle, he just stayed in istanbul. he died because he slipped in the hamam and hit his head. some historians say that he was drunk and chasing girls, thats why he slipped. some say he felt dizzy and fell. there is a dispute among ottoman historians if selim was a drunk or not. another fact about him is that he was a sultan who was politically not very active, more passive. he left the administration mostly to his grand vizier sokullu mehmet pasa

because selim is just drinking and thinking about woman and he's not strong as much as mustafa and bayezid !

First, Sultan Selim cut the drinking while he got the thrown. And there's no way, that a girl entering to padisah's hamam. Second, Sultan Selim didn't attend to wars because these were sea wars. Padisahs don't attended sea wars. He tried to do things that europans already have. He was a good padisah but as known he was very sensible. That's why he don't like wars. And he said for a time, 'If I know that they gonna kill me, I don't do anything to them. Btw, he was a kind soul. He liked poems. Wrote poems. Don't hate him please.
