Investigating very low filament purge for some 3D printing materials

I noticed some filaments need many times more purging than others for multi-color or multi-material 3D printing. Printed on the Bambu Lab P1P with 2 AMS units.

You're doing the lords work here. Excited to see the results

Yeah I switch between pla and petg often and I find petg->pla doesn’t require too much purging, but pla->petg requires a ton or else the parts just fall apart. Though both require more than pla->pla

wish the purge towers could print as Lego style blocks so they can at least be semi useful after. that's a lot of wasted plastic

Ah yes, Sunlu. Cheap yet decent filament. Perfectly balance as all filament should be.

Iam so sorry.. but every video I hear a word "more". I think this is main problem of 3d printing. I am so glad that I not alone 😂

When you get it dialed in could you do one with your purge tower and one with poop then weigh the waste to see the difference?

Wish I could get my favorite filament colors in all plastic rolls. Polymaker Pro has some great properties and colors for my purposes, but they all come on those stupid cardboard rolls and I rewrap them before putting into my AMS

You have to do this to control the color change?

Hey what's the most amount of colours you have printed with at once? The max is 16 isn't it?

What a PLA filament is good for bambu?

I just got a p1p and haven’t gotten an AMS yet. Can you use the smaller rolls in it? Or does it only take the 1 kg rolls?

Is PETG hard to print? I’ve never tried

Are you not having trouble with PLA and PETG strongly "disliking" each other?
