Elvis recorded this song and paid four dollars to Sun Records so they would record his voice and guitar on to a vinyl 45 record. Since Elvis did not have a record player at home he instead went to his friend's house where his buddy Ed Leeks lived and that's when the first ever recording of Elvis was heard for the first time ever publicly. That happened in 1953 when Elvis was only 18 years old. How about that !!!

Visited Sun Studio in Memphis yesterday. We stood in the spot where Elvis recorded this song. He was just out of high school and recorded this for his mom's birthday. You could record a record for $3.98! He was asked to come back by Sam Phillips, the owner. Which led him to record "That's All Right"....which led to his stardom. Standing in that spot hearing this made me cry. I remember my grandparents singing this together growing up. It was their song. If you have a chance to visit Sun Studio it's well worth the trip!!
