This is such an incredible, powerful movie. These guys were far braver than me, that's for sure.

00:20 The young Drummer Boy looks up at Morgan Freeman, then down as to say " This will be our final goodbye". Great acting.

One of the real-life soldiers that Denzel's character was based on (Sgt. William Carney) actually survived the battle, and the war, and became the first Black soldier to be awarded the Medal of Honor.

These were men who knew they were likely to be dead by sunset. But they managed to go forward. May their memory be eternal.

0:43 I always liked this part where he's scared, but he knows what he has to do. 👊💪

These are the role models that young black men should emulate … pride and love for a country, for a dream. These men gave up the most precious thing they had … in an attempt to secure the freeedom of their brothers and sisters still in bondage. They overcame adversity not through destruction, but through sheer bravery and courage. The men of the 54th are a shining example of what men should be like … black, red or white or yellow … all men bleed red .

Such a bravery into the battle of glory they went. I would’ve been honored if I lived at that time to die with these men through the animals of history and our republic. Let us never forget the sacrifices that have been made over the 200 and some odd years by so many who gave all they had to preserve this republic and keep it hole Let us not fault now and let evil take over this republic and destroy it let us not forget the sacrifice, tremendous sacrifice made for this republic, and it is up to lay down the sacrifice also, if we wish to preserve our way of life, our freedom this precious commodity of This republic stand strong America stand strong. Yes, these men honored their race and they honored this country the union and kept it hole from their sacrifice. We have built the building blocks of freedom like so many before them, and after them glory to all of them and their memories, let us never forget the sacrifices that Weyne madeon behalf of this republic

One of the last of the movies where the actors actually ACTED. They performed. They expressed emotions that we the viewers could feel. They didn't stand in front to the camera and just talk their lines.

Poor Shaw. He was cursed with the knowledge of knowing that most of his regiment was going to die, and he still had to lead them as though they were going to be victorious.

The score of this movie is so underrated

Glory, The Last of the Mohegans, The Last Samauri, Band of Brothers, and Risen. My favorites. I actually got choaked up watching this scene and the one where Gould announces the Confederates would kill any black soldier captured and any white officers serving with them and the next day none had left. Attacking across an open field like this against rifled muskets was suicidal.. But both sides did it again and again.

Should have taken that easy assignment foraging I reckon.

Tuve oportunidad de contemplar el bajón relieve que honra a estos héroes afroamericanos y su oficial en el Museo de Arte de Washington y no pude contener las lágrimas.

It's tragic that the same prejudices that black soldiers endured 160 years ago are still present to this day. They're simply directed at a different minority.
