Warren Zevon - Don't Let Us Get Sick

Warren Zevon left us too soon. His son Jordan unearthed a lot of unreleased audio of his father. The audio was release on the two CD set PRELUDES. I've taken the liberty of editing two pieces together. I own none of the rights to any of this. But I hope you enjoy it.

Mine is 19 she has listened to Warren Zevon her whole life now some of her friends are just discovering him, she looks at them like they're stupid when she finds out they don't know him. Enjoy your daughter these are the best years.

I use to sing this song to my daughter every night when she was a baby/toddler. She's 9 now, and still requests it sometimes. I can't even begin to express how much that means to me... Thank you Warren! I don't believe in God, but I do believe in Warren Zevon!!

My 6 year old boy sings this in the back seat of the car when it's playing (The Jill Sobule version). First time I heard this I was floored. When a child sings it, you realize it's a mature and wise lullaby. Such a good song.

It's a prayer and a blessing. Few songs accomplish this.

Ah, Warren...YOU " maketh my spirit to shine"! Not long now, and I'll see you again. It's about time....the world's a cold, boring, emptier place with you gone from it.

It has been 9 years since we lost Warren. It seems like yesterday. This song is one of the best songs ever written.

Stephen King, who arguably is the finest writer of his chosen genre; who isn't exactly known for the brevity of his novels--I cite "IT" and "The Stand"--and therefore might be said to have written SCADS of words, said of this song, "If I could write words like those, I would die a happy man." High praise indeed, coming from The Master of Horror himself. If you'd care for insight into their friendship, and how deeply Warren is missed, read King's dedication of his sequel to "The Shining", "Dr. Sleep". It's an entire paragraph. Is Warren missed? Only like you'd miss your heart if it suddenly vanished ....only that much....Rock the Pillars of Heaven, Mr. Bad Example! I feel Eternity coming nearer every day...

Wow--what a great job you did with this.  Thank you so much for posting this tribute.  I just heard the song for the first time this morning, on KFOG's Acoustic Sunrise with, where I often hear my brand-new, never-before-heard favorites....and this is one of them--how could it not?  With gratitude and awe for the simple candor and revelation in the song and your recognition of it, Namaste, Pam
