A head lamp for hands-free working is useful in any emergency

Handy to keep with the toilet paper is a roll of doggie poop bags - to stoop and scoop if you're not burying your waste - dispose of more safely. And nobody has to step in it.

I go to the food bank once a week for a family. As I was picking there stuff up this past Friday and I had a guy from the American Red Cross approach me handing me a pamphlet and flash light and a few things he strongly suggested everyone needs to make a emergency bag for there house and for there cars. I never had that happen before. None the less I am glad they were helping people in need and getting them started. I grew up with my father who is a intense military survivalist literally every since I was 5 years old to current (38 years old) my dad has been preparing me and teaching me techniques plants I can eat, things to do if your sick, hurt. I have a military bug out bag and so does everyone in my house. And a duffle bag in my car and also I have a few place I have hid some things becuase I know those places will be the safest in a emergency

My buddy and I put together a small tool kit for my bicycle. We went through every nut, bolt, screw, etc.. After we had what we thought was a great emergency tool kit we continued to refine it over the course of the next couple of weeks. It's become a science project that we debate about. Well, Snapper season is almost here so we are on another task. Retirement is a lot of fun. Personally, I'm ready for a few more novels to read now that I've discovered a new coffee.

I totally agree with you. Doesn’t matter what bag you use but you put things inside. I’ve got two emergency kits, one in proper storage boxes downstairs, the other in an old backpack with general food ziplock bags in my bedroom upstairs until I found one fulfilling most of my needs. I also have pads, underwear and a pair of shoes in case I need to leave the house immediately e.g flooding, fire etc and you don’t have time to put your shoes on.

Great ideas. Along with the toilet paper, I would suggest baby wipes and hand sanitizer. Also, some bags (produce bags from the grocery store would work). If appropiate, feminine hygiene products.
Good walking shoes and extra socks. You never know if you will need to leave your car.

Can I suggest tying up the bags with removable cable ties so that you could use them for an emergency shelter and many other things if the need arise and many other essential uses as well?

Cans as a pack-out aren't very practical, since you want a bag as lightweight as possible. If you don't believe me, do a dry run with some of these heavier items. You can get a traveler's hanging scale to weigh your bag and use that as a baseline. Store-bought freeze-dried meals are the better option. I went to Sam's Club and found the little travel-sized Jif peanut butter. These are great in a take-to-work portion or most valuable in a Get Home Bag addition. Same for jellies (Pepperidge Farm is what I bought), just like you get at most little restaurants. Again, you are going for a convenient and low weight for the bag.

A good metal Spoon or 2 I can attest to. Plastic knives and fork can make it thru many a use but those darn spoons 🥄 break, so heads up on that simple fact. 😊

I bought from Amazon a couple of months ago the travel cubes. They are bags for your stuff. They are nice. If you can't afford those (i think I paid $20). Organize your stuff in Ziploc bags so you don't have to scramble through a pile of stuff you put in your car. Put them in a duffel bag or something so it's all contained in one spot. Hope this helps.

Good points A G.
Our bug out bags and clothes are black because in choas we may need to hide from others. Dollar Tree sells black rolls of self stick self adhesive ace bandages $1.25. the bright colored ones may make you more visible. I had a puncture wound on the bottom of my foot the medicine and bandage only stayed on because I wrapped ace bandage around it. We out two rolls in sammy bag in our bags .
N95 masks (black) for smoke and asthma.
