And thank you Squarespace for sponsoring this video.

The XP-Pen astist 10 is the smallest and cheapest screen based drawing tablet you can buy at $170. But even at that great price is it worth it or does it cut to many corners?

I have this Artist 10. And comparing it with all the screenless stuff I've used, it's a good tablet and worth the extra price. The size does impose some limits that make it not ideal for fine inking, but as a tool for fullscreen sketching and painting it's basically the equivalent of A5 sketchbooks, which I think are just great. I found that I want to use traditional for inking anyway, so my process has gradually become "plan and rough out the illustration digitally, transfer it to paper, finish in ink, scan, color digitally".

I got this tablet in blue for my birthday and it's been two months and I love it. As my first drawing tablet, it's nice, wasn't too expensive, the size is nice for my workspace, I would recommend this to beginner. Its a good purchase.

I ended up replacing my not so gracefully aging Wacom Cintiq 13HD with this EXACT same tablet and I honestly with the XP Pen Artist 10 existed years ago. The performance of this new little tablet works just as good as a tablet from Wacom that cost quadruple more a few years back. Now the tablet is pretty dang small... That might bother some folks, me? Not so much, my hands are pretty small so the screen's size isn't too bad. Another good thing to mention about the screen is that the satin surface is a screem protector that can be replaced. As far as I know Wacom does not sell screen protectors. As for the tablet's pen? I do wish it was just a tad thicker, I am grateful that the stylus doesn't have one of those useless eraser buttons. Oh, I should mention that XP Pen as offers felt nibs. I HIGHLY recommend that EVERYONE should use them, they'll extend the life of your screen a hundred times over. I used them for years with my Wacom tablet. Hmm... That's about all that I can really think of. I totally agree that the tablet should have come with thw type-c cable, along with a wall outlet power brick... But! Other than that and the tablet's obvious size I can't really find any downsides for this little tablet, especially for the price.

Since my family and me live paycheck to paycheck this is the only tablet with a screen from a well known company that i can afford, so Im so happy this is an option for me.

I remember when they stopped making the Artist 10 in 2018 in favor of the Artist 12. The demand for cheaper tablets will always exist, so we see a triumphant return (though I'd just save for a galaxy tab s6 lite from 2019. You can find them open box for under 250)

A very nice little option for when I want to transition from the screenless Deco v2. Thank you for covering it Brad. <3

It's wild that you can buy one of those for 170$ with a minimum wage of 7, 50$ an hour, in Brazil it's 2000 reais (~400$) in the official xp pen store and that's almost 2 whole months of minimum wage, and that's the cheaper one we can get, that one huion studio PC for example is around 12 monthly minimum wages round here

I already have an iPad, but if I did not have an iPad I would definitely buy this for the price and it having a visual monitor drawing screen

In my honest opinion, the original Artist 12 that was mentioned in the video is a better tablet at the same price. The drawing performance is better and the pen has an eraser. All that's missing is a laminated screen

I was gifted a 24" drawing Xp-Pen screen and I love it, but it is large and can not be on my dask all the time, and to set it up is not easy and it need like 3 wires, HDMI, USB-C and power, so a small dwvice had been great for me, so that is something I will look into now. I am rather new to this, I been using a Samsung Tab 3 before but after a horrible accident involving coffee I been penless.

I am still baffled there is no companion app to allow use for hot keys or orientation adjustments in Android for these tablets. Seems like a pretty small addition that would massively improve the utility of these tablets.

A large screen always a big plus, besides we have great 10" android tabs likes S6 lite which requires no PC connection and gives you a better drawing experience

So, I have recieved 3 defective 16 inch models from XP-Pen over the last year. The customer service could barely communicate the issues and also couldnt speak very good english (Not the main issue) But, when i first ordered the innovator 16 last year, I thought it was great! But then after a while, the screen defects came about. Flashing, strobe-light like flickering, and cable port issues. I recieved, after hassle, another replacement, which was also defective. I then asked for a different model, which, was also defective in a slightly different way.
XP pen has slowly lost my trust sadly. The customer support and long-term quality is terrible in my experience.

Since I want to start drawing, and it sounds like a decent value, I want to purchase this one. But even though I haven't learned how to draw yet, should I buy or invest in this one (or any other pen displays for that matter?) (Also, what sizes are suggested for a beginner's good pen display?)

Hey Brad! Quick question : My laptop only has USB-A ports, so can I use a USB-A to USB-C adapter to use the cable mentioned at 4:03 ?
