This is what im here for, i need some slappy grinds in my life, especially as i'm getting older.

Frontside slappy got easier for me when I started treating it like a carve grind in a bowl, or surf slash motion. Key is to lead the frontside turn motion with your front shoulder. Your board goes where your shoulder goes, always.

you were spot on with the tips. treating it like a wallride will help getting the back truck on and not end up in a willy or such.

When you’re starting lean way away from the curb. It’s all in your front foot- that goes on first and the momentum pulls your back truck up onto the curb. Start out with a more perpendicular approach too.

Dan's tip really helped me get frontside slappies down. Front foot on the nose, and do a little mini penguin walk to get the back truck up.

Dude - on first impression, I love your truck cover idea. I think we have a paradigm in skating that things either have to be indestructible or they're disposable. This seems to lead to ultra-techy designs that are too complicated or perpetual replacement costs that really add up for most people. I love the idea of accepting material break down, but in a way that doesn't come at the cost of the entire part. I think there are so many ways we could apply this to skating that would really push it forward... and if nothing else, props for trying to innovate!

Cool tips. I'm a 47 year old transition skater who has decided to relearn a few street tricks from the old days. The other day I did my first sloppy in 30 years. Felt great! I would definitely recommend coming at the curb relatively straight until you get your confidence, then you can go faster and on more of an angle. Haven't seen copers in years!

I love slappys you go at it at an angle and then turn into it so your almost vertical to the curb and last sec you turn way from the curb So if your hitting it back side go at an angle lean heel side to go almost straight at the curb and turn toe side hard right before or when your wheel hits the curb

understanding slappy grind - It's like getting onto quarter pipe's coping. The first easy thing to do for you to get the feeling of slappy grinds is just slowly going towards the curb perpendicular and do a 50-50 stall. Just like how you would do on quarterpipes or vice versa (I learned how to do quarterpipes stalls because of the slappy grinds, some people got it the opposite way). Once you understand that, then go at an angle, and the trucks will grind (you will unlock it on quarterpipes too)
