One night I had had fallen asleep with music playing.. this auto played. I woke up, halfway through the track and listened. I heard the sample of the beach boys, at the time I didn't know it was from the beach boys.. nor did I remember the title of this track. It was a couple of weeks later before I decided I wanted to hear it again, by then I had lost it. I spent several hours trying to backtrack my watch history.. no luck. Anyways, my friend told me to listen to this album, it was 6 in the morning and I had just gotten home from work, I was too wired to sleep. I enjoyed it, I was vibing whilst checking my bills and email and eating some breakfast on the couch. Suddenly, the second half of this track began.. I instantly recognized it. I dropped everything and listened, my hairs stood up as I rocked back and forth in 70s Pacific bliss. When the vocals came, I burst into tears. I was so burnt out, so overworked and tired.. the little happiness I got was through music and my friends. I played the track from the begining, my eyes still glazed and red.. my roommate woke up, the one who had told me to listen to this album. Despite the shame of being caught crying, I welcomed his company.. he walked in and said "I told you man." He sat with me and rolled a joint, we relaxed while the rest of the album played until we both fell asleep on the couch.

This song reminds me of the last time I was in Margaritaville.. Late evening right before sunset... After a few... I stumbled into an oriental buffet a little off the main drag. The sign said open and so was the door. As I walked into a cloud of cigarette smoke I noticed empty trays and empty booths. No food and no one around. after poking around a bit I heard the dull roar of laughter coming from the back of the establishment, an older short gentleman sat a little ways from the threshold taking a sip of a beer I had never seen before. As I was about to turn to leave he caught me with welcoming smile. He said something in a language I had never heard before but I knew he wanted me to join. I walked through the kitchen and into the back office where the staff had set up a friendly game of dice, my favorite. I played decently for an hour or so, didn't lose too bad... In a break from the laughter I noticed this song was playing on the small bakelite radio in the corner. To this day. It takes me back and I feel like I'm wasted away again...
