I have two single-pickup guitars in my collection and I think ESP really made a mistake giving these only a volume pot. I almost never use the tone knob on my guitars with multiple pickups (single, humbucker, P90, whatever) but when you only have one pickup you really need that tone knob to get a full spectrum of sound. These might only appeal to players who want to play all-out all the time. Just my two pennies.

This reminds me of the Gibson Studio Lite. You get a beater guitar to have around everywhere and drag to rehearsals, and at some point you realise you don't touch your more expensive guitars anymore. It's like marrying your partner of years not out of Big Romantic Notions and Platonic Aspirations but just because she's been around forever and has become part of you.

Steve Marriotts Les Paul Junior, the only single pick-up guitar I've ever strummed, and that was over 50 years ago!

With CNC tech it's amazing that guitars cost so much. It's three pieces of wood. The most difficult part is the frets, and these could all be completely finished by a computer. It is very simple carpentry.
