The Chase Freedom Unlimited is an excellent option as a Catch-All Credit Card. Some of the benefits of this card are:
- Unlimited 1.5% Back on all purchases
- 5% Back on Travel
- 3% Back on Dining
- 3% Back at Drug Stores
- Flexible Chase Ultimate Rewards Points
- No Annual Fee

I applied for this card and have gotten lots of value. In this video, I talk about why I chose to apply for this credit card in 2023, and what I sacrificed in doing so. If you get value from this video, let me know in the comments!

You got an awesome offer on the CFU. Congrats! You can always get the CSP in the future when you know that you have a big purchase lined up. Slow and steady wins the race!

Ahhh regarding the CSP bonus, I can relate. Not the easiest for everyone, including me! Respect for not giving in to the hype and knowing what works for you! Not many can say they’re the owner of a 3% catch all card (at least in year 1). Personally I’d probably go for the $200, but I’m also just lazy 😂 Awesome video Spencer as always!

Wow that is pretty incredible value to get 3% back on the Freedom Unlimited on ALL purchases during your first year. Those Chase Points will definitely come in handy for travel upside! Great video Spencer!

You made the smart choice. Since I own my home, I apply for cards with high minimum spends whenever I have a property tax payment due.

We need embossed numbers in case of blackouts. I was a cashier once during a blackout and the old school numbers came in handy! 😎😎😎

I didn’t get CSP with 80k offer last Q2 because I won’t be able to meet that minimum spend for the bonus . I am currently at 4/24 and staying put. I only applied to 1 credit card this year Bilt card.

Wait a min, I didn’t realize that you’re a credit card content creator 😮. It sounds like you made the right choice for you. Personally, I would go for the $200 welcome offer because you’ll have to spend much more to get $200 back from that extra 1.5% boost.

the unlimited was my first at 18, now im 20 and opened a savor one cause of you. now i plan on getting the flex and csp to complete the trifecta and the venture x or regular venture for the duo

I agree with you. I think only difference with Annual Fee cards is the Travel perks. I don’t travel much so the Freedom Unlimited works better for me too. I like the cash back rewards. I also just got the Capital One Savor One. I think I should have waited, because the Freedom Unlimited gave a $10, 000 limit but the Savor One was only $1000 with a 735 credit score

You definitely made a good financial decision to get the Freedom Unlimited instead of the CSP! I actually got the Freedom Unlimited in November 2022 because it made more sense for me at the time. I was considering the CSP, but I could not justify it at the time with the $4, 000 spending requirement for the signup bonus. If it gave more than 3 months to do that amount of spend, it would have been a different ball game. I do want to get the CSP eventually, but I am holding off until at least next year because I do have some ideas where I can spend the $4, 000 without going into debt. Plus, I’m over 5/24 right now anyway. The signup bonus you got is a good one. That 3x back is obviously better than any 2% card right now. The bonus I got in November was the $200 cash back bonus plus 5x back on grocery store purchases for a year.

I think I will be doing the same thing you did for basically the same reasons. 💯💯💯

Not to mention all the other benefits for a no annual fee card like Purchase Protection, Extended Warranty Protection, Trip Cancellation/Interruption Insurance, Auto Rental Collision Damage Waiver I love this card.

4.5% back on dining is WILD considering the Amex gold only gets 4x back and with a 250 annual fee. Got my girl to sign up for this elevated bonus a couple months back and needless to say whenever I treat her to dinner I have her pay on her unlimited and just Venmo her the total after. Gotta maximize that value in the first year! Awesome vid 🎉

Smart choice. Bonuses are nice but like you said, rather hit it with natural spending and not stress myself out. I hope Chase takes away the embossed numbers in the near future.

Nice video! I actually just got the CFU with the $200 + 5% gas and grocery first-year offer. The math for the 3% vs $200 SUB comes out to $200/0.015 = $13, 333 of spend. So if you spend > $13.3k in a year on the card, you're better off with the 3% offer. So for almost everyone else, it makes sense to just get the cash (really 20k UR points) SUB.

If my credit line is $2000, how much should I spend every month?
