Woodworking: Learning To Turn on a Lathe

I've always wanted a lathe in my shop and now I finally have one! Rockler outfitted me with their Midi lathe and Peter Brown (from Shop Time) flew out to spend the day with me and teach me how to use it? Who better to learn from than Peter Brown?!? It was a fun-filled day where I learned all the basics of woodturning and managed to create an awesome screwdriver handle from a hybrid black walnut and resin blank. And there's even a few brass flat-head surprises that are cast inside the resin! Whether you're just learning to turn or you're already super skilled on the lathe, I think you'll enjoy this video. Another tip for anyone else interested, but nervous as I was, the Rockler stores offer one-day classes that teach the basics to turn a bowl or a pen. It's super helpful if you can't get your own Peter Brown delivered.
