Azazel has been watching humanity form its tapestry in the void for a very long time. He is disgusted by the experiment, which requires suffering and hatred for joy and love to even exist, and wants it to end. He sees it all as needless cruelty. I told him I think that as bad as it is, future generations would disagree. He lashed out at me, to discipline me, and it was worse than any nightmare I’ve ever experienced. It was like at a whim I was transported to the bowels of a great beast, to be digested by walls lined with teeth, as much mechanical as alive, like the mow of a great hagfish. And then, just as quickly I brought back and he was gone…and I was in my living room at 3 am.
