That's laughable considering that 80% of the ads I've seen on YT are scams, trashy online games & suspicious banking apps and YouTube is fighting hard so that I watch them all the while asking me in surveys whether I thought that was a good ad

If Google spent the money and time they spend trying to avoid ad-blockers into making YouTube Premium not overpriced garbage with apps and functionality that made the service appealing, they'd probably get better results.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; We NEED Legislation that states if a website wants to stop ad-blocking they should be forced to actually vet the ads that are being displayed on their website. If they let a malicious ad through they are then responsable for all damages caused to their users. That will clean this shit up REAL quick.

I wish we could just disable ads entirely on videos we upload.
Edit: I should add that you used to be able to not monetize your videos, and pre-roll ads were something I always disabled because I couldn’t imagine not finding them annoying. YT removed this as well last year. I work in IT infrastructure and I know there are costs to all of these things, but if they can still host a demonetized video, it makes little sense to not at least have the option, at least for monetized channels that already make something for them.

A day or two ago, I couldn't even use YouTube because all I got were ads, a lot of them literally 20+ minutes long and unskippable, and actual videos never loaded. I even tried using 3 different ad blockers and it didn't help.

Every time my youtube premium expires, I get inundated with ads that are almost always "1 of 2 ads" with the first being 15-30s, while the second ad is nearly always 150s+, making me pause my game to hit the skip button. They're doing this to push people back to premium I'm almost positive as on my non premium account I rarely get any ad pair longer than 45s with it almost always being skippable after the first 15s ad.
