No word about the 18 indigenous communities that live in the area and whose water has been disappearing for years. Great, balanced piece of reporting, Bloomberg! No wonder this world is doomed, if it only takes a few beautiful images to convive people that all is done super responsibly and everyone is singing Kumbaja together in the evening around a camp fire.

Big Oil always uses these horrible polluting lithium mines as one of their talking points against renewables not worth it, glad the mainstream can see what they actually look like. Also, like he points out, the batteries are only 2% lithium, that's not very much needed per battery.

Screw the lithium, what is that special steel they use for the pickups? I would love to have a Tacoma with a corrosion resistant frame.

Always makes laugh when you see someone write a comment about raping our planet of natural resources.
These are the same people who go to the same schools, drive the same cars, and live in the same houses as what we all do.

I understand we do need to manage our planets natural resources i get that. But do something about it, get involved in what you preach instead of commenting on YouTube video, s.

It is an education for us who never took school seriously when we had the time too, or of those of us did not have the chance to learn.

I'm doing research about the potential of recycling Lithium-Ion Batteries, and there are companies now like Li-Cycle that are expanding that process. I hope that keeps on improving.

All this talk about lithium mines killing animals just like any other mineral mine, but neglecting to notice that unlike coal, lithium is like lead in the sense that it's highly recyclable and like lead, straight mining from the ground will of course be severely reduced once there is already enough lithium circulating around the world market to viably recycle, just like how lead from lead acid batteries are typically recycled nowadays.
