I do like those two bands you said, how ever this isn't their best song to show they can use both types of vocals, their older stuff is still so fantastic

He puts so much emotion in the cleans. for real its so epic. i loved their older stuff but this new song tops everything so far on the list.

it's not meant to be taken literally. it is however a very dark and raw song.
the lyrics are written from the perspective of the voices you hear in your head when you are depressed and suicidal. it's meant to make you think that maybe the voices in your head are wrong(evil) perhaps the voice of the death himself trying to coax you down.
I see your point, but I think the lyrics are clever and powerful.

last song i heard from these guys was some like it cold, it was sound like underoath-ish, and now look at these guys, it's so damn heavy, I LOVE IT!
