Welcome back to another episode of TÂCHES TEACHES!

In this video, I’ll show you a simple yet powerful method to create generative music in Bitwig without diving into complex modular setups or the Grid.

Using the Clip Launcher, we’ll explore how to craft evolving basslines, melodies, and chords that practically write themselves. This technique is perfect for sparking inspiration, stepping away from predictable patterns, and letting randomness add a fresh groove to your productions.

✨ What you’ll learn:

How to set up randomized patterns in the Clip Launcher
Adding dynamics with varying note lengths and silence
Containing randomness within musical boundaries
Enhancing generative music with simple MIDI tricks and effects
Whether you’re feeling stuck in your music-making or looking for new ways to inject spontaneity into your workflow, this approach will open up a world of possibilities. Plus, it’s a fantastic way to bring a modular-like experience into your DAW without the gear!

🔧 Tools used:

Bitwig’s Clip Launcher
Basic instruments and effects
Simple MIDI and automation techniques

Watched this while drinking my coffee this morning. I'm now going to be telling my coworkers that I suddenly "don't feel well" and need to take the rest of the day off and go experiment with this technique. Groovy!

Your videos always spark creativity, great to have you back! I guess the obvious question is how to spit chords from scaler into this system and generate endless melodies?

Glad you’re back Taches, love your little insights and discoveries in bitwig. Don’t over complicate it, you’re interesting as it is. Me and my sis love watching your videos. Couple of my favs in particular are, the granular sampler, tips and tricks, arpeggiator tricks, one chord track trick and many more.

Would love it if you could make devices that take midi input for notes into account but randomise other aspects. It would make improvising fun and potentially surprising, and for those who use chord packs would suddenly rediscover a lot of value in them.

So glad you’re back, filling the void that is this super creative approach to rather simplistic techniques.
Big win for the bw-community!

Great idea and welcome back. Having basic approaches let us think of how it can be expanded through experimentation.

Great stuff! Look forward to more like this

You are basically writing a probability distribution of notes and rests for each chord followed by random sampling... very cool!

This is great. So fun with house music, just popping keys on my keyboard to change the mood whilst I did other things. Then redid the whole project with some neuro style basses and generated so many unique bass sequences to sample and chop. I do feel like it's cheating a bit.

Never thought to apply the clip legato effect to midi like this before. Thanks so much. 🙏🙏🙏

I'd love to see a quick clip launcher vs arranger for dummies video. I find myself always using the arranger because it's familiar... but the clip launcher looks really powerful.

Heeey! Glad to see you again! I see you also use bitwig on macos and window size at the start is a bit weird, do you know how to make it at full screen right after it starts?) Thanks for inspiring videos btw! :)
15:35 - nice Mario sound design :D
