The title Holy doesn't mean that the pope is sinless. But here we call him holy for his position as the descendant of peter the Apostle.

you should address any member of any religious tradition by their given title in respect. You call a rabbi, rabbi, teacher, teacher, pastor, pastor, father, father, guru guru. It's not about you, sir but out of mutual respect.

It would be highly disrespectful to call him anything other than your holiness. You may not be religious but he is due your respect for the position he holds. It costs you nothing and does nothing to reduce you as a non-religious person. Calling him Mr Bergolio is an afront.

Would you call King Charles Charlie boy or Mr. Mountbatten Windsor? I don't think so. So you don't follow his faith, well big whoop! You address him as who he is, His Holiness. It's the proper and polite thing to do.
