I am suprised by how subjective and neutral you are at these reviews ! People on videos like this are usually picking a side or/and they are acting like the game is perfect (aside of course from the known issues). Not only you analyze everything and you point out the weaknesses of the game without hating on it but you also point out and the positive ones !Keep it up 👍

you wont really notice those small problems when you are deeply focused in a race. just sayin

The bloom is excessive on curved reflective surfaces, it's more concentrated. I never see people commenting about it so I'll do it.

I really enjoy your reviews. You are the most honest, direct reviewer ive ever seen in this genre of games. I really appreciate that, and i have absolutely no idea how you 'only' have 6k subs, you have EVERYTHING a youtuber with couple hundred thousand subs has. Sir, you have earned yourself a sub

Well, for character on the tracks it's easy to understand why they'd go for flat planes again. Even if the consoles are much more powerful, they have a limit to how many polygons they can display at once on the screen without the framerate being affected. Seeind as how tracks are made of millions of polygons already (in total, not rendered at any point, usually), adding more with hundreds of 3D modeled characters would take a lot of memory. Think about it, (basically) a gif plane made of 1 polygon (2 triangles) versus a 3d character that would be ~400 polygons (800 triangles) to not look too bad, and then need to be textured and animated. Replicated hundreds of times to make the track more populated. Of course having a few 3d models here and there would add to the view, but at the end of the day, you're not going to pay much attention to them anyway. So they can shave a lot of weight by doing this.

By the way, Forza 6 (I can only attest for Apex though, but I think it should be the same) uses mainly 2d characters as well, with very few 3d models (those are usually flag holders, or camera man). They have a decent level of detail though, but they are flat.
Forza Horizon uses mainly 3d models as far as I have seen, because it's an open world environment. I haven't played a lot of recent racing games, but i'm sure there are still a lot that use 2D planes for characters around.

On another note, the mirrors viewed from inside the SLS AMG GT3 looked pretty bad... I wonder if (or, how many I should say) they reused cars from GT5/GT6.

Motion blur on grass makes it look like solid green paint.

Fantastic series, just the information I need as I didn't get access to the beta.
Thank you!

let's not forget that the game aims for 1080p60fps

I know graphics are important, but what I really care is physics...

The render distance on the mirrors is just stupid short.

I love GT6 and I had to take my ps3 somewhere to get the 1.22 update because I live out in the sticks so online racing is out and updates too. Does GT sport have to be updated out of the box? What sim racing game would be the best in this case? Money is no object. Thank you for all your info on GT6 cars

I don't understand how games can look better than real life?

5 things I hate about GT Sport's graphics:

1.) Low quality assetts.
Some of the assetts used in the game have very low amounts of polygons. This can make them appear blurry and breaks immersion. For example, at 2:38 There are blurry 2D trees to the left. Or just look at the tall grass assetts dotted around Nurburgring. If they were bunched it would look okay. But they stick out alone like a sore 2D thumb.
.
2.) Low quality textures
This is more to do with environments. In the track "Fisherman's Ranch", the ground outside of the track looks very unrealistic and pixelated.
.
3.) Repeating assetts
Look closely, and you'll notice that most of the trees are the exact same just copied and pasted in different angles. If you get a decent view of the grass, you can see it has a "grid" like appearance. This is a rendering technique used to get a higher number of quality textures. But the trade off is that it looks ugly if you zoom out.
.
4.) Aliasing and poor shadows
Those jagged lines you see. That is called aliasing. Unless you game at about 8K resolution, it's quite hard to get rid of. Most devs turn to advanced anti-aliasing to hide it. GT has always seemed to embrace it. This is extremely horrible for shadows. Just watch a video of an "onboard" lap at "Northern Isle Speedway", and you'll get where I'm coming from.
.
5.) Static elements
Grass doesn't change. Dirt doesn't move. It makes the world look good in a screenshot, but plays horribly.

.
6.) Render distance.
If you look very closely infront of you while racing, you'll notice a sort of "line". Behind the line, everything looks fine. But beyond this line, everything is a little blurry. It's fine, but it should not be this noticeable. Polyphony used adaptive tessellation. If it were advanced it should have prevented this.

Love your rich vocabulary.. I agree with your points now that I've tried demo, but I guess I would have expressed myself more bluntly than you did, regarding the -ve aspects.. ;-)

Honestly if a developer is worried about small details such as spectators and jagged edges that it ruins the overall gaming experience I as the customer would be utterly dissapointed.

Not everybody blindly buys GT games. I waited and waited and waited for GT5 and the hype was going off the scale, on finally receiving the game though I was massively disappointed with it, it was hugely unfinished and just felt cheap.

I tried to play it but after a few months I gave up, something I never in my life imagined would happen with a GT game, it just didn't hook me like the previous titles and I never even bothered at all with GT6. That was the first ever Gran Turismo game I didn't buy.

I don't know why but I just don't have a good feeling for this game, I desperately hope I'm wrong but I'm massively more into PCARS these days and GTS will have to go a very long way to better that and that's not even taking into account the arrival of PCARS 2 later in the year.

I personally don't care bout inside car long as outside is good and game play is great

I have been thinking about this. I just think they should do a better job with the environment in the game. For example in Driveclub it looks gorgeous.
