Mai Tai Recipe

The Mai Tai is perhaps one of the best examples of a cocktail that has a good combination of tropical flavours, where the quality of ingredients are important to get the desired flavour. A Mai Tai should have a deep amber hue and allows the rum to shine through with the other ingredients... Another perfect summer cocktail that will make your customers want to come back for more.

Great video! Always good to see people using the original recipe. Thanks for sharing :)
Nit-picking:
- The description says "A Mai Tai should have a deep amber hue"… that's definitely not the color of the drink in the video, which I think more accurately represents a proper Mai Tai. I think it largely depends on the opacity of your orgeat, but still, unless you're using heavily colored rum it's probably going to end up a fairly light-colored drink.
- I'm curious to know why you blend it for so long in the Hamilton? Most tiki recipes call for around 5-10 seconds. Trader Vic actually stipulated this drink was to be made by shaking with crushed ice, followed by an unstrained pour. Does such a long spindle blend emulate this, or is it just personal preference?
