It was cold and windy, when she plunged the knife into the ground the wind had swept her dress in the way pinning her to the grave. When she tried to stand up and felt the tug of the knife she thought it was a hand pulling her down....she had a heart attack and died.

Some answers here are interesting and some are just completely different stories all together the story never said she was wearing a dress. Nothing was ever mentioned about what she is wearing only the pictures in the video imply she is wearing a dress. So why are people saying she plunged the knife through her dress? Also it never said how she places the knife just that she places the pocket knife in front of the tombstone. We do know it's cold, windy, and that it's night so we should assume she dressed warm. Also, she may be brave, but he said "she wanted to show her bravery" but after placing the pocket knife in front of the tombstone she got scared and tried to escape. He used the words "she wanted to escape, " The graveyard is old, it's cold, windy, and it is night.I think she places the pocket knife in front of the tombstone. The rumors of a bony hand are really foliage overgrown roots, and vines. She gets hung up in the roots and overgrowth and that is why he uses the words "something was stopping her movements" its nighttime she cant see to free herself of the overgrowth and since it is cold (we dont know how cold)a few minutes of exposure to the cold she cant get her muscles to work right so she gets hypothermia goes to sleep and she freezes to death. In most comments here people have failed to mention about the "rumors of a bony hand, " they also put her in a dress or they say she is brave. The story never said what she was wearing it never said she was brave it also didnt say how the knife was placed. Besides where is homicide and why is the FBI on this?

The first suspect would have to be the one who chose the dare. How did they know about the graveyard behind the mansion, and that their was a tombstone there. How does she know about the hand coming out of the grave to grasp the person there?

This was a murder plot disguised as a ghost story.

Before I ever read any of the comments, here's my answer:

My guess is she stabbed herself in the foot, the knife got stuck, and she couldnt leave. She died of hypothermia due to the cold weather.


After reading 1 comment: The dress may have gotten stuck from the knife, but she wouldve just tore the dress to escape. If the dress was sturdy enough, she wouldn't leave.

This is the plot of an old "Twilight's Zone" episode.
The wind blew her skirt over the grave and she unintentionally pinned her dress without realising it. As she stood up and felt the tug on her dress, she thought it was the bony hand grabbing at her and died from a heart attack.

She misunderstood the dare. Instead of sticking the knife in the ground in front of the gravestone she stuck herself; she was suffering from hypothermia which compromised her hemostatic functions and bled out.

She only got scared once she realized she couldn't stop bleeding.

This was an episode of The Twilight Zone. She pinned herself with the knife, got afraid because she thought the hand grabbed her, and had a heart attack. I saw that episode twice.

This is pretty straight forward, old man Jenkins was a huge fan of the knives. When the girl showed up in his backyard to leave behind a knife, he had to investigate.
As she stabbed it into the ground old man Jenkins saw that it was a Dutch Stormdolk fighting knife. He was devastated to think that this mindless girl was going to leave it to rust in the ground?
Old man Jenkins stepped forward to tell her that she was throwing away an 80 year old classic Dutch weapon worth at least $60 when he noticed the truth. The knife was a cheap knock off. Old man Jenkins was outraged. It didn't even have the same original hilt design.
In his blind rage, he pulled his original 1911 pistol that he always carried on him, and shot her dead for the insult.

That's how she died.

I don’t need to be an analyst, I’ve read this story in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. She accidentally caught her dress in the knife and died of fright thinking the dead man got her.

Why are people acting like if the knife got stuck in her clothes she couldn't either take the knife out and place it in the tomb again or just rip her clothes?

She probably slipped in thedak when she got scared and hit her head. But again not much details to go on, except may be the friends killing her together as they didnt report her missing even though she didn't rejoin the group.
