On 20 May 2022, the Southern Pacific 9010 crew at Niles Canyon Railway started SP 9010's #2 Maybach MD870 V-16 Diesel for the first time since its overhaul. There is still plenty of work to do, including installing the twin turbochargers, but this was a major step.
