OpAmp Based Headphone Amplifier

In this video, I test out a dedicated headphone amplifier design based around the NE5532 opamp IC. As usual, things didn't go according to plan in a comedic way (to others with my brain-fart).

instant subscribe for the wicket bass intro.

Just in case nobody notices, yes, the voltage gain was not too high at 33 ohms, but there is some substantial power gain.

If you would use a complementary emitter follower as an output stage (Accuphase did that often in their power amps) you can get rid of a global negative feedback, because that type of an output stage is the most linear among all architectures. Itself it can provide as low as 0.01% THD at 10Vpp input signal without a NF (however with current sources as a load). It's good for a headphone amplifier IMHO

Use jrc4556 for cmoy headphone amp, requires no output transistor, can drive 16 ohms headphones at +/-5V . for higher impedance headphones use +/- 12V
