Maude: “Go faster Neddy!”
Ned: “I can’t it’s a Geo!”

"GM is gonna GM" might be the most correct and underrated line here.

On a hot Pennsylvania day, I bet you can smell that plastic when you open the car, all hot and sticky like. God bless the 90s.

Really the world needs more cars like this. I'd love to see the big 3 produce the cheapest possible car they could make. Instead of $80, 000 suv's. Good, basic, entry level cars to give people reliable transportation without requiring a 30 year mortgage payment.

"What did Toyota get out of this exchange?", asks Mr. Regular? Simple. They sold some cars. Specifically, they sold some cars to people who still had residual anti-Japanese prejudice, either from WW2 or from the 1980's accusations of unfair trade, or both, or just because they didn't want to buy or drive something with a Japanese nameplate or which was assembled in Japan (the Prizm was assembled in California).

THAT's what Geo was all about. It worked well for all involved- it kept Chevrolet's marque off of imports and thus avoided brand dilution, it allowed Japanese manufacturers to reach people who wouldn't otherwise buy Japanese cars, and it allowed consumers who didn't want to buy something from Japan to still access the reliability and quality of Japanese products.

Honestly, that factory sounds like every restaurant I've ever worked in- everyone is fueled by alcohol, drugs, and spite

As former owner of a Vibe, a Metro, and a Prizm, I can say I'm grateful for the GM/Toyota joint venture; because I've been able to commute in reliable Toyota drivetrains for years that cost half as much as their Toyota counterparts by masquerading in unassuming GM skins.

The Corolla was actually available with a 3-speed automatic just as long as the Prizm was, but most Toyota dealers didn't stock it because they were competing with Hondas and Mazdas and VWs which only came with a 4-speed auto, while GM dealers were all too happy to sell 3-speed Prizms, because they were competing with the Neon which was *only* available with a 3-speed auto! And the Prizm itself was really just a decoy to get import buyers into GM dealers where they could hopefully be convinced to buy a more profitable homegrown Cavalier instead. They discontinued the Geo Storm when they realized it was cutting into Camaro sales too much!

My dad once bought one of these for $100 at an auction in Houston, my mom cleaned it out since it was absolutely trashed inside, she took out all the interior, cleaned it so it was brand new, my dad did the engine and everything else, he sold it for about $1100 in the end, theyre cheap little strong cars

This episode was art. I was there with you. I could smell the cigarette smoke and feel the blank stare. Well done!

these recent "time travel" episodes mean we've technically been seeing the formation of an RCR cinematic universe

This was without question, the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Mine was a manual transmission, part of the reason it lasted as long as it did. 212, 000 miles with absolutely no major repairs beyond routine maintenance. I still see a lot of these on the road. I really miss driving it.

As a twenty year old man, I can confirm that this car kept me single and celibate for the 2 years I kept it...

This show is poetry, every week, without fail. I could practically smell the musty, old carpet, cat urine and stale newports scent that would have wafted out that shack the minute that boy opened the door. You can certainly paint a picture with words, man. :)

It's funny how you mentioned coke bottles being hidden in cars for whoever bought it. I had a customer come in to the dealer with a ford windstar complained that nobody was able to fix a horrid rattling noise and me being a new mechanic she requested I give it a try. I took apart the plastics in the third row and found a coke bottle with the words "haha got u" and it was fill of coins. Lady was PISSED. We eventually looked at the VIN and found who assembled that part of the car using the build date. The guy who did it was working at another ford plant got caught and was fired.

"You cannot touch the bottomless Randal and Dante energy..."

This is the kind of perfect reference that keeps me coming back time and time again. 👍

Six years ago I emailed Mr. Regular asking him to fly to Hawaii and give a review of my 1997 Geo Prizm. He politely declined due to the distance, but I’m glad he finally got to review what a fine beast this car is.

"You had employees who couldn't care less about their job of they were working for Shinra just before the meteor hit" 😂😂😂 didn't expect a ff7 reference but once again RCR thank you for your unique brand of comedy and references
