Did you miss the probable US colluding with Saudi Arabia to over produce oil, dropping the price of crude in 2014 dramatically, causing major impacts to Iran, Russia, and particularly hard on Venezuela? That was followed by sanctions early in 2015 by Obama when he signed and issued a presidential order declaring Venezuela a "threat to its national security".  Besides the dramatic drop in oil revenues, the sanctions were estimated to have cost Venezuela $38 billion in 3 years.  Maduro may not have the best money management, but obviously the US has played a major role in Venezuela's economic chaos!

And the irony here is, the U.S. military is the closest form of communism America has ever experienced and the citizens love it. Every service member is owned by the government. The military, or state, provides the service member, or citizen, all their needs. Clothing, job, food, residence, training, education, transportation, healthcare, etc..
