Brown Recluse Spiders know they are in trouble when they see Dan The Bug Man

I manage an apartment complex in Southern Illinois and we have had a recluse problem for years. I found a very good exterminator several years back, but he retired. Sadly, the guy I have now isn't that great, so I'm always on the lookout for something that kills these little buggers on the spot...having used Easy-Off, straight ammonia, spray paint, etc., but they just shake it off and run away. Recently I was cleaning an apartment and was using Mr. Clean Clean Freak mist, yellow bottle, and saw a recluse in the tub. I gave it a shot of that stuff and it curled up and died instantly. I was so thrilled. I showed my bug guy how well it worked when he was here and he was amazed. Don't know what's in it, but it really works. So much easier to squirt this on them than to try chasing them around and stomping on them.

I used to live in an apartment infested with them. The traps I set out used to look exactly like that one he showed. I feared even going to sleep at night because I thought one would crawl into bed with me after I saw how many were glued to the trap under my bed. The only thing that helped a bit was constantly using glue traps, having nothing for them to hide under or behind (I was poor and had little furniture or junk anyways) and using TONS of desiccants along with running the AC frequently. Keeping the environment dry seemed to greatly deter them for some reason, although it made my skin feel horrible. Thank God I don't live in that shithole anymore.

I was bit on my boob while picking up sticks in SE Michigan on my 4 acre parcel. I didn't feel a thing while working outside. After I took a shower I noticed that my boob looked like it grew another boob and it was flaming red and purple in the center.
I went to see my doctor at University of Michigan Hospital. He sent me to Urgent Care.
This happened years back when U of M and Univ of Denver were 2 places that had Brown Spider specialists. They were so excited! The venom of the spider usually liquefies the surrounding tissue. I didn't get any of that because I was on steroids for my asthma. I told the docs that nothing could kill me because of the meds for the asthma!

You do a really good job, Dan, i'm impressed! I'm currently battling brown recluse spiders. I need to get some of the products you're using.
On a off-note, one thing that blew my mind is they have SOOO much stuff (a lot of it nice), but have sheets on the windows as curtains. Sell some (or a LOT!) of that stuff and buy some decent curtains. Doesn't matter how nice your stuff is if you're going to kill the room with sheets for curtains.

Now I've gone and gotten myself paranoid, going around my house with a flashlight looking for signs of brown recluse spiders.

Your state must not be too strict on your laws on PPE? Here in California we would get in big trouble for working with absolutely no PPE. Be safe man, love the videos!

should really be wearing a respirator a lot more often, with all that poison. Those things can have a serious impact on health over time

Bro, I was thinking I'll fly you out here to treat my home, but 10 seconds later you said you're in Western KY. I'm in Grand Rivers! I'll be in touch.

I live in Monroe, Louisiana and my brother was bitten 3 times by a brown recluse spider… twice on his right thigh area, once on the left thigh. He spent a month in the hospital, had two surgeries and numerous rounds of powerful antibiotics. He almost died. I have heard that if you are bitten by a brown recluse and the spider injects venom, if you do not kill the spider that bit you, it will come back the next day and time to “feed” where you were bitten. I always thought that to be a myth until that happened to my brother. This was in 2020 right around the Covid pandemic but he is alive and well today! We call him Spider-Man or “Spidey” now 😂 …. Thank you for sharing your videos and informative information Dan…. Knowledge is Power!!

I'm considering working in the pest control business, and spider infestations are what I look forward to treating the most. Especially if they are venomous spiders such as Brown Recluses. Although there aren't really any Brown Recluses in my area. They are more common in the southern portion of my state.

Thanks for this! How long do you have the family out of the house for a treatment like this?

Every summer like clockwork brown recluses start crawling around in my Kentucky apartment. We are not cluttered, have sticky traps out, and are diligent about checking and cleaning. They seem to come out of nowehere... one was randomly on my couch last night and we see a few during the day. It's pretty scary when I have kiddos.

We moved into our house 2 years ago, since day 1 we have had countless spiders. And not the small type, but giant house spiders and brown recluse‘s alike. And in my bedroom specifically, since it used to be an old garage I have had the most. My bedroom has a door to the outside that I leave open quite often because it gets really hot and humid in my room plus when it’s shut it doesn’t seal properly and there’s quite a few gaps spiders can easily get through. The wall is also old and has many cracks and gaps in it as well, my room is also kind of used as storage so it’s always cluttered and has lots of shelving. I’ve tried getting the exterminator out quite a few times ( he is coming to my house again in a week ) and it’s only ever temporary got rid of the problem, I frequently vacuum and mop my room and try to keep it picked up. I have 4 spider traps in my room that always fill up in just a few weeks.I also use essential oil bug spray. And yet I still see multiple spiders a week in just my room! I’m begging someone to give me advice and a solution to my problem help I’m freaking scared the shit of spiders. I’m going to commit die.
