Why The Honda CRF300L is Better Option Than The CRF450L Dual Sport
The Honda Crf450l and 300L are new and pretty much taking the dual sport world by storm so much that the CRF300L is very hard to get right now because of it. I really think that the Honda CRF300L is a much better option than the CRF450L because of a few reasons. The crf300l and the crf450l share pretty much the same frame and almost look the same they are different but one thing is for sure the crf300l will pretty much do anything the crf450l can do!

*I really like the CRF450L but in all reality if you watch the video till the end! I think the CRF300L is a better option all the way around what do you think? Thank you so much*

This is like comparing a chevy cruise to a camaro.

The service intervals are the only thing that even matter to me . I need to ride bikes, not turn wrenches .✌😎🤘

I have always thought that the 450L should have benn made more like the 250L, just larger engine but that is not the way it turned out. That and the price makes the 450 not an option for me.

To sum it up bluntly you are rating motorcycles which you do not own therefore you are not qualified to rate them! I do not wish to be rude. However, I will be blunt I’ve never heard a more supercilious narcissistic statement then when you say: “I don’t have to ride motorcycles to be able to rate them and know how they’re going to perform”. I can’t think of a more arrogant ridiculous filled statement full of rubbish I’ve heard in the last few years!! Essentially what you said was using different words: “I don’t need to ride a motorcycle to know exactly all about it” this is in essence what you said! I own both! And you couldn’t be so far from correct as night and day are
Succinctly it’s been proven over the last three years the 450 L does not need to have the ridiculous maintenance schedule followed if you are not trying to ride it like a motocross motorcycle! The CRF450 L is a dirtbike made in Japan at Honda‘s premier manufacturing motorcycle plant! THE CRF450L IS A DIRT BIKE WHICH IS STREET LEGAL!! Depending on how you ride it you do not need to follow the ridiculous maintenance intervals as I stated in my much longer previous rebottle too many riders have proven this to be true as has my own bike!!!! Those intervals are for the guys who buy a street legal bike and then expect to go down to the motocross track and keep up with the guys on the CRF 450 R‘s.  Other than making the frame 6 mm wider to accommodate the sixth gear the frame on the CRF 450 L is the same in build quality thickness weld quality etc. as the motocross version of the CRF 450!
The CRF300L is a street bike which is somewhat dirt capable period end of discussion. This comes from somebody who owns each of them. (I did own a CRF250 L and it was the worst dual sport I have ever owned! It is too heavy, has a horrible suspension and terrible power!! I’m 5 foot 10 and 152 pounds so I don’t think my weight is the issue when I tell you a motorcycle is it under an under powered garbage scow! I could not believe Honda had turned out such junk! As of right now both of my WR250R‘s can give the CRF 300 hell a run for the money in any realm anywhere on road off road and they always thrash my CRF300L to pieces off road! The WR250R’S aluminum frames are built almost to the SAME beefy standards of the CRF 450 L. I would say when measuring the thickness of aluminum and looking at their welds they probably have between 85 to 95% of the strength of the CRF 450 L frame. If the CRF300L frame were a chrome molybdenum chromium steel frame then its frame would be worth discussing. I was thoroughly disgusted when I saw the frame of the CRF 300 owl in person. The only reason I purchased this bike was I couldn’t forfeit the deposit I had put down on it! Don’t worry it will be sold it is not up to the standard of Yamaha‘s WR250R! We can only hope next year Yamaha will introduce a WR 350 R and that will settle the discussion of who makes the best light to midweight dualsport well the Honda CRF450L when modified can hold it’s own against the KTM‘s and the Husqvarna‘s of its displacement!
The aluminum frame on the CRF300LSlim is far too small for such an overweight bike to even remotely consider it a dirtbike or even a competent dirt duel sport motorcycle! They are very likely going to wind up breaking since the CRF300L frame IS SO FAR BELOW THE WR250R’S FRAME!!!it I won’t even compare the CRF300L FRAME to the CRF 450 L!!! Last the CRF300L is made in Hondas tier 2 or second rate plant whatever you wanna call it! I realize this is going to get a lot of guys underwear in a not but the bottom line is Honda only builds their very best bikes in Japan and their other bikes, (yes they are built to their specifications), when compared to the Japanese made bikes are simply nothing short of second rate lower quality cheaper motorcycle! This is exactly what the CRF300L is compared to the CRF450L!! I’m sorry I tried to be polite before but your statements are so sweeping in their breadth and scope whilst lacking any real world experience on the bikes you are reading your writing is nothing short of utter rubbish sir. You appear to have a grandiose narcissistic filled view of your knowledge coupled with a void of real facts and evidence.
Your “claimed information” simply must be rebuffed for people who are looking to truly understand these bikes to make a purchase! My 2019 Husqvarna FE 350 has a frame composed of steel, chrome, molybdenum, and chromium. This frame is roughly the size and weight of the aluminum frame on the CRF300LSlim yet we all know the Husqvarna FE 350 has a vastly superior stronger frame! Call please take this video which is so full of falsehoods disinformation and opinionated lack of knowledge off of the Internet before you cause somebody to purchase a bike they will regret! Just so you know I purchase my CRF 300 out to be my street bike which if necessary in a pinch could handle some off-road riding but not much!!!
PS Is this how you buy your cars? You read up on them watch a video then say I don’t need to test drive them I know which car is best without thoroughly investigating it as well as test driving it? If so I suspect you’ve wasted tens upon tens of thousands of dollars in your adult life!!
Apples are not oranges. Mangoes are not strawberries and peaches are not pineapples I just thought you’d like to know this since some of them are tropical fruits and others are temperate fruits. I would hate for you to put out a video telling everyone since their fruit they’re all the same they taste the same they work the same except for the pineapples which is harder to peel so don’t eat it!!!
I apologize if I was a bit salty or came across as arrogant supercilious narcissistic or rude. However as someone who owns both of these bikes +2 others as mentioned I cannot let your disinformation stand it must be refuted it must be rebuffed if necessary next time I will post specific thickness measurements on the frames between the CRF 450 L the CRF 300 L and the Yamaha WR250R. Happy trails— as long as you were not on a CRF 300 out otherwise you risk breaking the frame———as do we all.

Awesome. I almost bought a 450L but opted for the CRF300L for all these reasons and more.
The CRF450L also does not have a tachometer or a fuel gauge/average mpg indicator which I really like on the CRF300L.
Killer milage on the 300. I don't need a bigger gas tank as I thought I would. Probably would need a bigger tank on the 450 or have to live with a shorter range. I've gone 137 miles on my 300 and still had gas left. I was trying to run it out to see how far I could go but got cold and tired of riding, so I gave up and went home. lol

The 2021 450 is called the RL not L. And the 291 pounds is in fact a curb weight. That means full of fuel and fluids and ready to ride. If you are not that serious about hard off road riding, than the 300l would be okay. The maintenance intervals on the 450RL are nothing to worry about. Several guys have already put 20k miles on that engine without so much as a valve adjustment. As far as performance between the two, there is no comparison.

I agree, the 300L really checks all the boxes, it is a cool unit.

I own a 2015 honda crf250l, I weigh about 60kg and I'm 6 foot.. the crf is total capable of doing whatever you want, I've taken it alot of places and some really good uphill rocky terrain and it does it with ease. I wish I waited for the 300l before riding a 250l and I would've been absolutely stoked.. the suspension is okay for road and trails with some roughness to them but that's not what it's made for.. it's a dual sport not an enduro or racing bike, for what it is.. it does an absolutely fantastic job and for the price.

Good job! I agree the 300L will be a better bike for most of us. The 450RL is a competition level bike and priced like one. The 300L is affordable and will be very reliable

No way! A 20 lb difference in weight with a 1/2 the horses!!! That is HUGE. Both bikes at 80 mph will feel WAY different. I'm going with the 450L

I rode my buddies 450L on rocky trails and the suspension being so stiff wore me out 2x faster than my 250L. The 450L is nice for smooth sections and jumps but for slow rocky trail riding I'll take the CRF300L every time.

Forget about price! Ride them both and if you like one buy one! The 450L is a terrific bike! Oil change in 10 min.... not a problem!

I have also heard that the 300L is very forgiving to stalling, while the 450L often stalls during technical trail riding.

You are sorely mistaken on a LOT of your information! Which KTM dual sport has 60 H.p.? Certainly the 500 EXC doesn't. Check out Cycle World's dyno chart. The CRF450L made 38.21 and the 500 EXC-F makes 41! Sorry. The 300L makes under 24 hp. Also, Dirt Bike Magazine in their most recent test said the 450L has the best suspension of any dual sport bike! It'd take several thousand dollars to even get close to the 450L on the 300L. If you look at the frames, there are huge differences. You are buying something for the extra cash with the CRF450L. It is really a bargain. It is for a totally different Rider than the 300L. The 300L is for junior Riders. It struggles on the hwy. The 450 does not! The 300L has very soft and basic suspension. It'll work on the road, but will be dangerous off road, at any speed. Your comparison is biased and false. Sorry Dude, try again!

I watched the full video and respectfully disagree sir. As I've owed the 250L and 450RL, (still own the 450) there is really no comparison. The build quality of the 450 far surpasses the 250/300. It's twice the price because it's twice the bike. The 250/300 is a street bike with knobby tires... Slow, mushy, and heavy. The 450 is a dirt bike that's street legal. Fast, angry, and ready for action. I'm just speaking from my personal experience, but my 450 has brought me far more smiles per mile than my 250 ever did. At the end of the day, it's about choosing the right bike for the job. Ride safe bud.🤙🏻

I really love my 450L. Oil changes are actually easy. 1.25 quarts and the filters are cheap. I pushed mine up to 800ish miles and I ride hella rough. It's Running better than new.

Should probably mention the 450L's top speed is electronically limited at 90 mph. Aka, it rockets up to 90 and then fuel cuts off. Which means its much happier cruising at 75 than the 300 would be.

Jo,
I agree. I rode the Illyria Raid in the Balkans 2022 on a CRF450L, 6 countries in 7 days and it was a beast. Most other riders were on KTMs or Betas. Frankly, I would have much preferred to have been on my CRF250L. My 450L was stolen last Oct, and now I have a 300L, with a Hagon rear shock. It’s more comfortable on and off road. If anything it has too much power. Out of the 3 CRFs, I would say the 250L is the best all round bike. If you’ve got one I’d hold onto it. Austin Vince has been riding his for years and it’s never let him down.

I agree totally, let KTM keep the high end performance market, we need bikes like the 300l, just not to tall, not to expensive, street motors with not much maintenance, not so hopped up they shake and rattle, just very reliable fun motorcycles, so yamaha make a wr350r, so suzuki make a updated drz 400 just like the 300l, 6speed, fuel injection, 35" seat height, kawasaki make a klx450 the same with 35" seat height and yamaha make a tenere 500 twin, sorry I dont need a race bike with 37" tall with a tag for $12000
