Not a great deal is known about the Tartessians who occupied the area around the Guadalquivir river valley on the Iberian Peninusla in the Iron Age. Heavily influenced by Phoenician culture, most of what is known about them comes from ancient Greek writers and several archaeological sites.

I had heard the name Tartessos before, but that was it. This is much more information. The inscribed stone is amazing! Thanks Laura!

The Tartessos lived concurrent with Phoenicians, Minoans and Mycenaeans …

Were they a colony or separate Celtic group? 🤔

Communal ceremonies with ritual sacrifices of animals have been an universal feature of human society since well before the shift to agriculture and husbandry. They are still practiced today, all over the world, but are now called "barbecue parties".

Mice are so hard to control! Sometimes you just burn down the house, have a barbecue, and start over.
