My friends at Inspect Point are working on their 2025 Fire & Life Safety Survey. Below is a link, if you'd like to participate, please do! All participants will be entered to win a prize, from Yeti Coolers to Apple Watches and waterproof speakers! Thank you!

Surveying ends on 10/31!

Was that a test alarm or a real emergency?

When you hear the German DIN fire alarm tone (1.2 kHz to 0.5 kHz sweep tone, as heard in this video at 0:25), after being warned via the speakers by saying "In Kürze folgt ein Probe-Feueralarm, Sie brauchen das Gebäude nicht zu verlassen!" (which means: "There will be a test fire alarm shortly, you don't have to leave the building!") or the alarm only goes off for a few seconds and then you hear someone say "Das war ein Probealarm, alles ist in Ordnung!" (which means "That was a test alarm, everything is okay!"), then you know the alarm is not serious, but if it goes off for a longer period of time, then you have to leave the building through the nearest exit right away.

My job uses these, except the ones we use are sounders instead of speakers. I currently work at a Flavor Capsule manufacturing job from France, and majority of their stuff is from France or the neighboring countries. The sounders aren't for fires, but we use them for when the dryers are done drying the capsules or closing the centrifuge lid. Yes, they are loud, and occasionally annoying, they are also cool. Most rooms do BEE DOO BEEE DOO but half of them either do pulse, temporal, etc.

Cool video! The PA system in many buildings in Europe are used as notification and are wired in FP. It’s quite uncommon to see strobe in older systems like that. The system was notifier and you guys actually used those smokes.

Nice to see that at least this building's system has strobes, most outside of North America don't.

It sounded like it was talking in German and English

For anyone that’s curious to what kind of fire alarm strobes these are, they’re Pfannenberg PL-105’s.

I live in Germany, and I know for a fact that that is an exchange from a U.S. Government installation called Ramstien, or Robinson Barracks. Is this where the video took place? One time, when I was at Panzer Kaserne, a kid set off the fire alarm system.

What were you doing in Germany anyway?

I like how it says: "DANGER: Fire alarm" in German.

As someone taking a German class, I was always curious on what German alarms sounded like

Looks like it uses E2S Xenon L101 strobes. Funky little things.

Btw, I didn’t know that Germany has strobes on their fire alarms too

I speak German so I was able to understand the evacuation message.
