Several years ago as a former Democrat, I worked for a County 'anti-poverty' agency. The agency provided funding and oversight to programs that provided services to the County's 'disadvantaged' -a precursor to DEI. Looking back most of the employees were very young, college-educated, idealistic, Democrats with socialist leanings. The programs director was a DEI hire himself as well as an elitist. I remember how shocked I was overhearing him say about the program's recipients, "Just because we have to serve them, doesn't mean we have to like them." And then there was the misuse and waste of taxpayers money for personal use. While it took several more years, that job gave me the first real glance behind the curtain to see how hypocritical and disingenuous the Left really is.
