1) Everyone should be allowed mistakes. We're human. 2) I'm glad she's in a successful film. 3) I don't believe her semi-apology for one minute. I saw the video. It did not come across the way she claims. What is the difference between a troll and a fan? A troll may be a super fan of something that gets out of line. But then again, what is her definition of trolling, someone disagreeing with her? Someone threatening her? Something in between? She clearly did not understand the role of that video. In this case, she should have just said, the video was a mistake that hurt the chances of the show's success and I'm sorry. Done. Her qualifiers here did not help.

That’s not an apology, that’s her saying she just wishes she kept her mouth shut.

Except when celebrities say trolls the do usually mean fans they disagree with

Even the roles you would earn and make it big would come from the regrets of the terrible roles you took on Daniela. The writers and execs are to blame for the mess that is Netflix Cowboy Bebop.

This is why actors should not write their own scripts. But she chose to write it. So in words of her former character "Welcome to the Ouch"

It was in vogue to rip "toxic" this and "toxic" that when she made the video. Now that that move has proven to be a terrible play she has to try and cleanup the mess.

Nobody is covering this because Cowboy Bebop has long since crashed and burned. It's a non story in and of itself 2 years after the fact.

Comes off as an "apology" to me. It wasn't just men who had issues with her as there are many women who had issues with how she reflected the character. Also, many of the guys who did have complaints were NOT being mysognistic. They were just stating facts. An apology to me would've been, I should've not engaged with fans in any regard. I'm sure if I look deep in the rubble maybe there is someone who is an actual mysognist, but to take the very miniscule few and make them represent everyone else is very disengenous. That is why, I believe others are not really promoting this. Her apology was selective and did not come off as sincere. If she went all the way with it, I myself would 100% acknowledge it even though I have no skin in the game with this property.

Nonsense. A troll is someone who says outrageous things they do not actually believe to get a rise out of someone. Fans pointed out that she looks almost nothing like the character, which is very accurate. This is a cope and a cover to try and save face while simultaneously attempting to gloss over the poor casting decision and her own personal blunder, while taking little to no responsibility for it.

Non-apology, so I do not accept it as anything but more Hollywood BSing.

I think as an actor you are an ambassador for the project. I don't see this as an apology. My opinion is an actor should not talk back to the audience in anger. Let the audience be angry, but actors need to stay professional so that they can potentially win back the angered viewers in their next project. Casting directors would not want to call someone who can't handle heat (toxic).

I mean, no. She still thinks there is a difference between "toxic fandom" and "regular fandom" and there isn't. It's just their bullshit woke lens colouring the world as racist, bigoted, and phobic. Which just isn't true. She seems to have learned a lesson about posting stupid videos that will hurt her career. I suppose that is something.

I have like her as a actor, and I believe she is trying to say that it was a big mistake to make the video. I love that she even address the video.

She didn't know who Faye Valentine is. Not sure I'm buying it. I want to give her the benefit of the doubt but she used the "It was a joke" deflection. I dunno. Maybe little baby steps. It's in the right direction, in any case.

I think she is sincere with the wrong lesson. She just won't call all "fans" trolls.

I'm not buying it. Having regrets is it the same as apologizing. Also, she wasn't the lead. She was a supporting actor. Spike was the lead.

She is not to blame except for her social media attacks against Cowboy Bebop anime fans. Saying it was her first experience with "toxic fandom" seemed like she was continuing to dig her own hole, and wasn't so sincere with her so-called apology. It is the director's fault for inappropriately casting her in the role in the first place. She was not the character, which ruined the series, but that is not her fault. She is a good actress who was miscast for the role. Spike and Jet were cast better. It was a disappointing series that did not deserve a second season, even though they stopped it at the introduction of the remaining of the crew. So many fans looked forward to this series that barely even matched the anime. She made a good bad ass Latina, but that really wasn't what the role called for. It is not fair to singly blame her for the failure of Cowboy Bebop, THAT would truly be misogynistic. I don't even recall her video and comments to fans all that much, but I doubt all her responses were just from, who she defines as, "trolls".

Hey, you live and you learn. Next time swallow your pride, take the high road, don't sink down to other people's level.

To me it comes off as “I said what I said and meant it. I’m just sorry I said the word ‘fans’”.

🤔 I’m happy for the movie’s success, looking forward to seeing it. I would say learn from cavill and respect the fans and there critiques.
